Itchiness is killing me

Hi all,

1. I have been on and off the regimen for the past month. I'll begin with admitting that it has somewhat cleared my skin, but there are a few breakouts every now and then. However, these breakouts are not the problem. The problem is that my face is really dry, red, and itchy as hell. A little bit of dry- and redness I can handle, though. It's the damn itch that I cannot stand; it results in me not getting enough sleep. This, in turn, is making me depressed and I constantly feel exhausted from the lack of rest (obviously). I've read that the benzoyl peroxide is the culprit for itchiness for many other people on the regimen, and currently I'm only using it once per day or every other day. But that seemingly isn't helping with my itching face. What am I doing wrong?

2. I'm still kind of hopeful for the regimen to work even though I'm not following it exactly as instructed (two times per day, 10-12 hours apart yada yada), but it's really wearing me out. How do you guys endure?

Really thankful for any advice provided!

Use jojoba oil with your favorite moisturizer. I hated dan's moisturizer. It doesn't absorb into the skin. Its greasy and just sits on top of the skin. Something about it that's just not right. Dry skin is itchy skin. Use less bp if you have to. Let your skin heal a little before using more.

Agreed with the above poster. Adding 5-6 drops of jojoba oil can really help. It was my son's best friend when he was getting used to the products. Also, moisturize as often as needed to keep your skin as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately BP does have some unpleasant side effects, like dry, itchy skin! :( Moisturizer 3,4, 5 times a day if needed! Once your skin adjusts, the itchiness goes away and the treatment starts to feel comfortable.

Hang in there!! |::comfort: And keep your eye on the prize...clear skin!! |::Siava:

Yes, the itchy skin will go away soon. Hang in there. My skin is normal now. No matter how much bp I slather on. Give it time to adjust. In the meanwhile , use jojoba oil with your favorite moisturizer.
