Ok, so I'm somewhat torn between laughing hysterically at myself and also freaking out..
I've been waiting for my acne.org products to arrive (international post takes ages), I decided to source some similar products to get started on in the mean time. I got hold of a great cleanser (Aquanil), BP 10% (Panoxyl), and a Mens Clinique moisturiser. About 6 days in, I was getting a bit carried away with applying the BP, More the merrier... right... right? 3 days ago, I woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that everywhere that I applied the BP has turned RED! But here's the funny part, I applied BP to my entire face excluding just around my mouth, as dryness around my lips has always been an issue for me.

So in short, I'm a super pale white guy, with a bright red face.. Except all around my mouth is white.. I look like a pleb.. Please tell me the redness will subside? If so, how long will it take?

It's been 3 days, I've stopped using the BP, I'm also aware that 10% may have been way too harsh to start off with..

P.s. I'm practically laughing while writing this, don't let acne get you down guys! ;)

Just now, Control Panel said:

Yeah, 10% is bad. 5% should be okay if that's all you can find, but avoid 10%. Also it's a common mistake to start quickly. You should have started with a small amount of BP and worked your way up. Click here to see the dosage chart (it's listed under the instructions for BP).

Oh woaah. I was doing like half a finger of 10% on day 1.. Oops! Lesson learnt!!
How long will it take for me to stop looking like a tomato? ;) Haha

Thanks for the reply.

There is a what to expect chart on that same page. I think at the end of week 2 the redness begins to subside.

Awesome, just seen it. Thanks so much for the reply :)

I guess how fast the redness subsidies depends on how much you apply. I started off with only a tiny bit and I've recently bumped up my dosage. Jeez I can totally relate to your tomato scene. Part of my face is swollen because of excessive application. I did not experience itchiness/redness when I started two weeks ago, but now I really feeling like just ripping off my face. Looking red is not very pleasant, but alright, but the burning sensation and itchiness is killing lol.
I'd suggest that you reduce the amt. and be patient. I was a bit too hasty lol.

That sucks! At least we can be tomatoes together! ;) I've completely stopped BP for now to let my skin settle down!

On a side note - was reading your own post ' Did I just OD on BP? ' And noticed how you spoke about the acne.org moisturiser just sitting on your skin, well mine turned up today, and I couldn't agree more, how ever, I also saw 'Control Panel' reply to your thread about getting some 'Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream 5% Urea' I actually ordered that from Amazon yesterday, it turned up today, and the stuff is great!

Haha I'm glad that we can relate! I don't have the nerve to stop BP, since my skin problem is very stubborn. I guess missing one application may have visible negative results...although right now it does not look good either. Well I went to Walgreens and did not find Eucerin. I got Cetaphil instead and it feels much better than the yellow stuff from Dan (no offense intended dear Dan) lol. However, the area under my eyes are still red but puffy - looks as if someone beat me up somehow... I'm now re-watching some of the "success videos" to stay positive. Anyway, I hope your skin calms down soon!!

I also made this fatal mistake when I was first doing the Regimen and turned lobster red. The only thing that saved me was Vaseline. It was heavy and goopy and gross but it delivers on its promise to heal and soothe. Also noncomedogenic which shocked me, so it's a cheap remedy and in most medicine cabinets if you're desperate. So I slothered this on my face at night and laid on my back...my skin was back to normal within 3 days and I started over again a much wiser person!

Actually I just discovered the cause to my extreme irritation. It was because I changed my moisturizer. I said Dan's moisturizer was gross - it did not seem to do anything, it was runny, it sat on my skin and made it look shiny during the day etc. However, it protected my skin from being irritated. I was really desperate last night, and I suddenly realized that all of the drama happened after I started using Cetaphil. So I lathered my face (especially on my puffy eye area) with Dan's treatment and went to bed. I didn't wake up at all, because my face/neck did not itch. This morning my redness/puffiness were GONE. No trace at all. My face looks normal again, plus some new-born cysts on my chin, which is to be expected since I'm at the beginning of the 3rd week. I am so elated. I order a 16oz bottle of the moisturizer immediately since I'm running low on the 8oz bottle.

Use Dan's moisturizer! It may feel gross but it really does a wonderful job at soothing my skin.

That's great! So glad you discovered the problem and how to fix. I've always liked Dan's moisturizer and agree that it's great protection from the drying effects of the BP! :)
