Hi everyone,
i have been using the regimen (every night) for the past 5 months or so. It was great for the first 4 months but now my acne is coming back. It's not as bad as before but certainly increasing every week. Started with one small then 2-3 and now I'm getting 1-2 every week and they are painful and big. What am I doing wrong? Should I start doing the regimen twice a day instead of just at night? I haven't changed any thing : products wise and lifestyle wise so I am confused.
Could it be that my skin has become immune to BP and it does not work anymore? I am so sad and depressed. I don't want to go back to having terrible acne and zero self confidence.
Please advise!
I checked my hormone levels last year when my acne was starting to get worse. Everything was within limits. I was put on spironolactone which was working but the side effects were intolerable for me. So I can't take oral medication for my acne, however badly I may want to get rid of it. So BP was sort of my last hope. It was working so well and I also wrote a post here in june because I was so relieved. Now I'm going back to square one.
Did you also see improvement first and then started breaking out again?
Well, good news your hormone levels are within limits, my problem at first were high levels of androgens, and I´ve taken spiro for a year but I think is not working anymore, actually since friday I broke out really bad (I´ve had similar periods in the last 5 months) and I don´t know what is going on. I´ve never used BP and I´m kinda afraid to use topical medication, do you think I should give it a try?.
By the way I think we are doing good, taking care of our skin, I mean sometimes we need to accept some conditions and I think acne is one of them
I agree with you that at some point one needs to accept some things. My problem is that I have not had acne this bad for the last 5-6 years. Never had 100% clear skin but still very manageable. This is out of control.
To answer your question, yes I do think you should give BP a try. I had tremendous results for the initial 4 months, so it might work for you too. Personally I prefer something topical over a pill that I have to ingest that comes with more serious side effects. Since your androgen levels are high, your dermatologist or gynecologist would be the best people to offer advice in that department.
Good luck!
