Hi,

I have just started the acne regimen about a week ago. Currently I am using a gentle cleanser, after which I will apply benzoyl Peroxide. Then I apply Derma e very clear moisturizer, which contain salicylic acid. My skin started to show redness, itchiness and some irritation. However my acne seems to get smaller. Also I mixed the moisturizer with a skin oil blend (contain carrot seed oil, jojoba oil, rose hip and tamanu oil) and my acne scar seems to clear up. So overall my acne problem seems to have improvements, just that I have redness all over my face and some irritations. Should I continue with the regimen or shall I change moisturizer? I'm confused.

Since you just started the acne.org regimen, it is fairly common for people to experience redness and irritation (espeicially if it's your first time using BP- it takes a little while for your skin to get ajusted) I would suggest that as long as your redness/irritation is not too intense and unbearable, continue the same regimen that you using right now and see what happens in the weeks to come. If the redness continues, then you may want to lower the amount of BP, but it is a good sign that your acne is going down!

Keep us updated and feel free to message me with any questions!

Thanks for the reply. My face is getting redder and more sensitive and unbearable after applying the BP and moisturizer. But the redness will subside after 1 hour, unlike previously it stay red for a few hours. So I am not sure whether the condition is getting better or worst. I wander if I could just use the face oil as a substitute for the moisturizer. The regimenseems so confusing..

You definitely want to use moisturizer! (I learned that the hard way) If the redness is lasting for a shorter period of time, that's a good indication that your face is getting more and more used to the BP. You definitely want to continue to moisturize though in some way shape or form, because if you don't, your face will become very dry and prompt your body to create a great amount of oil to compensate for dryness your face is not used to, thus leading to clogged pores and acne.

You should definitely try an alternatemoisturiser without SA if your redness and sensitivity gets worse....if it is subsiding the longer you persist with this regimen then carry on.
