Hello all!
I've been having very serious acne for more than 6 years. I started using the Acne Regimen from March. And it WORKED FOR ME VERY WELL! It cause my acne to become more serious at the beginning, and applying the second step always feels irritated and burning. But I stilled kept it going. It worked so well . My acnes barely grow and the redness faded. I nearly believed that my acne would stop growing after so many years.
However, it stopped working into the second month. I applied larger dose and it does not feel hurtful as it did during the first month. And my acnes are back again, as serious as it was. I don't know why this happened.
Is there anyone with similar experience? What did you do? Did it work at the end?
Also, by the way, there may be several factors that caused the situation:
1. I didn't't apply it twice a day because my skin is very oily outside but get dried quickly inside. So I need moisturising products to keep it balanced or else it would just get worse. It's what I did in the first month.
2. My menstrual may have caused the situation getting worse. Every time before my period, there would be 3-5 really big and red acne that usually would take a week to pop and fade, and would leave remarkable red scars.
Thank you so much if you can help and provide some advice!!!
To start with....the factors you mentioned will affect you getting acne.
First, you are not exactly doing the Acne.org Regimen but a tweaked version of it so that will definitely matter in the long run. My best advice for this is to actually do the regimen twice a day and then eventually when you get clear you can slowly taper it of until you only do the regimen once a day. Some people have had success with it but it varies from person to person.
Second, your cycle, like mine, could be the same and affect when you get a spot or two...I haven't found a way to really prevent it when it deals with hormones already.
Now...only a month in? I can tell you that you are still at the start of a process. I broke out my worst during my 4th and 5th week of the regimen. You will experience a lot of ups and downs but this process is something you need to stick with for a few months to really see results. And sometimes this process will involve some purging and breakouts here and there.
Don't give up!
Agreed with Nicmic! It's important to repeat the treatment every 10-12 hours to prevent new acne. When you skip treatments, acne bacteria have windows of opportunity to repopulate, so most people need to repeat the process twice a day to stay on top of killing acne bacteria, which is what prevents acne. Also, as Nicmic says, not uncommon at all for people to experience intermittent purging...this is part of the process to rid the body of all latent acne bacteria that lies deep below the skin's surface. So a month in, sounds like you're right on schedule!
Hang in there, stick with it, and keep your eye on the prize...which is clear skin!
