Skin I Extremely Irritated.

Hi everyone! Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, I couldn't find anything.

I started the regimen about 2 months ago and jumped in head first, which irritated my sensitive skin beyond belief. I stopped for about 2 weeks and have been back on it for 3 weeks now, easing myself in.

I have very mild acne on my face and pretty moderate to sevre acne on my shoulders and upper back. I've already noticed extreme improvements in my acne, but my skin is super itchy! My neck is red and blotchy (I don't use ANY products on it) and on my upper chest/upper arms I'm getting swollen/raised, red, itchy spots!

Is this normal and should I keep pushing through? This is exactly what happened the first time. I just bumped up my use from once a day to twice a day.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there,

I no longer use the regimen and have taken a more natural approach to my acne but I experienced a very similar reaction to what you have described! My acne improved but I wasn't getting the typical "dryness" that everyone describes. It was more of a redness and swelling in the areas that I applied the BP. Even if it was a very light application.

I decided to stop using the regimen when I was getting raised hive-like rashes on my neck. I noticed that I was getting these rash reactions even when I hadn't applied the BP anywhere near my neck which was a little worrying.

One night I woke up in the middle of the night because I was scratching at it so hard!

I really recommend taking a break from it and letting your skin settle down. If it's the second time you have given the regimen a shot and you are still experiencing this kind of irritation; it might be that this just isn't the acne treatment for you. But don't give up, there are so many options when it comes to treating acne. Benzoyl Peroxide isn't the be all and end all!
