Hi everyone,

Unfortunately im allergic to bp and unable to use it because it gives me a blistery rash. I was wondering if anyone out there has gotten clear on just the AHA+ ? Ive been using it for 13 days and I feel like im slowly getting better but Im not exactly sure. I know using an exfoliant that I would go through an intial breakout/purging phase and I was just wondering if you thought I was stilll going through it. Thanks!

Try it and see what happens...it is effective as a spot treatment so it may work all over. I just know that AHA+ is not meant to replace BP as the treatment in the Acne.Org Regimen but if it's working for you, then keep using it. I've seen people have success with everything from honey to BP to oil-cleansing method to AquaVelva shaving lotion. It's about finding what works for YOU.

Let us know how you do! :)

Thanks Delovely! Are people out there big believers in having a purging phase or do you feel that that acne would have formed regardless of what your new treatment is up until 2-3 after starting? Just wondering because I feel that the AHA+ is bringing my acne to a head much faster then it did last week but Im still getting some in my troubled spots.

I personally believe our skin goes through a purging phase or IB (initial breakout) when in the early weeks of treatment, as the treatment brings latent acne to the surface. We are using the AHA+ for my son's skin in conjunction with the other products and have noticed that new pimples are large pustules by the next day after using AHA+, which burst easily and dry up. It does seem to speed up the process, so that acne turns over much faster.

Thats kind of what I think too. How long do you think this IB will last? My hope is going from week 2 to 3 that thats when Ill see my skin will start settling down just like the regimen. Also my skin gets a little red and irritated from the AHA+ right now..not bad but do you think that your skin eventually gets used to it like it does with the BP? Thanks so much for your advise!

It's really hard to say how long your IB might last, since you're treating your skin in an unconventional way. But as with any treatment, do expect periodic breakouts in the early weeks. Since AHA+ does not kill acne bacteria, perfect results cannot be guaranteed. But if this product keeps things manageable at least and you're happy with that, then it's worth sticking with. Be sure you also pick up some Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer with SPF 15 or 30 if you are spending an hour or more in the sun, as AHA+ does increase sun sensitivity.

Good luck! :)
