Only my son's forehead and around his mouth and chin are broke out, but his cheeks are mostly clear. If we only treat his problem areas with BP, will the acne bacteria move/spread to the untreated areas?? We could treat his whole face but not sure if we really need to at this point, or if it's just better to get his whole face used to BP and get it over with. I just remember those early weeks being really unpleasant! Thanks!
I only use BP in the affected areas. I would encourage you to start by using it in only the affected areas as it will be noticeably irritating (dry/ almost a burning sensation when you start). Get your son used to the product and if it does start to spread, perhaps then try applying BP to the entire facial area and seeing if that solves the problem. Remember it'll take a month or two before you see significant results more than likely.
Thanks for reply...we've been using Neutrogena On The Spot to treat his problem areas for a little over a week now, along with Purpose Face Cleanser (supposed to be as gentle as water...Derm Recom'd...noncomedogenic...hypoallergenic) and plenty of my DKR moisturizer until his kit arrives next Tuesday. We've only been treating once a day at a low dose (about half a pump) and so far his skin is responding really well...no excessive dryness or redness (so far). I guess we'll just leave his cheeks alone for now and cross that bridge later on.
Thanks again!
You're welcome. I doubt anybody's success will be exactly the same as anybody else's. I think the key is monitoring what works for you and what doesn't and applying a routine that caters to the individual's specific needs. Too many people wrongly give incorrect advice. Acne is a sort of problem every individual experiences differently. Some never have any issues whatsoever and there skin is perfect regardless. Others have to work at achieving only a small amount of success if any at all. To think that there's a one stop solution to fight acne with modern medicine is plain naive.
Just monitor his progress, ask him to do the same, see what's working and what's not and adjust fire for the incoming rounds that may likely occur. So long as you're willing to take the steps necessary to treat and further prevent, I'd imagine you'd have some great success.
Yeah, I've always told other people on here to find what works for them and stick with it. Everyone's skin is different. Some people are blessed with great skin and can put anything on it and their skin still looks great...and then there's the rest of us lol. Since we know that ultimately acne is caused by a bacteria and that they can't survive in an oxygenated environment, I just wasn't sure if they would "get smart" and move to untreated areas. But a "wait and see" approach sounds sensible...if we start noticing breakouts elsewhere, we'll treat those areas. Plus I saw Brandy's reply to someone else with a similar question and she said a lot of people just treat their problem areas. When I was on the Regimen, I treated my whole face from the get-go...my whole face was a problem area lol!
We're gonna start doing BP twice a day at this dose, I think his skin is ready for it. In just the short time we've been doing the Regimen all the pustules around his mouth (except one) have disappeared. Just some red marks remain. He used to wake up with literally 5-6 new pustules every day around his mouth and lips, which we'd try to drain every morning before school. They looked really terrible! Forehead is improving, too! Yay!!

Glad to hear things are looking up and clearing up. It's always nice to see progress, just stick with it and things should be better.
Thanks for the reply and words of encouragement! Week 3 and no redness...yay!!!! All of his larger zits are in the drying stages...some tiny zits still remain...a few new ones are forming on his forehead but not nearly as big as the ones we were seeing...some red marks...overall things are looking good! Have started using BP on his cheeks as we are seeing some tiny zits here. Glad I had prior experience with the Regimen...I think it's helping!
