Is it ever ok to exfoliate? If so what should I do to not irritate the skin.

Dan really discourages the use of scrubs or wash cloths to exfoliate because they tend to be irritating to the skin, and irritation may exacerbate acne. If you feel that your skin could benefit from some exfoliation he suggests the AHA+ lotion. It has 10% glycolic acid in it which exfoliates chemically rather than manually, which is much more gentle.

I think exfoliating is a must in this process. You can use a product with granules or a chemical peel. I use lactic peel and glycolic mask twice a week and i have noticed great results in fading red marks. I also use a baking soda peeling. I just mix baking soda with some drops of lemon or vinegar. It is awsome, natural, neutralized( acidic- alkaline) and gives a velvet feeling!
