Just Started The Regime - A Lot Of Burning

Hi all,

I just started the regime, using drugstore products. I use the CeraVa hydrating cleanser, 2.5% bp, and the neutrogena combination skin oil free moisturizer. But my skin is soooo red and flaky and sore. I'm on day 4 now, and it burns when I use all 3 products. I've only been using the bp in the nighttime, but I should I take a day or 2 break from it altogether? Or should I just suffer through it and it'll get better? I also have only been using the bp on my chin, because thats the only spots I break out.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but the only way is to suffer through it. You can add in the jojoba oil, which helps with the flakiness. It truly is worth the pain because although I'm not 100% and on the regimen anymore, my acne has been nowhere near as severe as it was when I started.

Stay strong, you won't regret it!

I'm with Lewis, just suffer through the pain. If your skin is severely red (as in burnt) then give your skin a rest for a day or so until it recovers, but I'm sorry to say that if you keep stopping and starting, your skin will never get used to the BP and this burning sensation will continue. The first 4-5 weeks are hell for most people (including myself) but if you're mentally prepared for it, you will get through it.

Good luck! :)

I will go back to the "regime" too. Been treating my acne with AHA+, but it isn't so effective, I still get pimples regularly with only AHA, but not that severe. I will use BP only three times a week only, this is what I used to do before and I was clear with that. I think everyone should first try a month or two with just three times a week BP because it may very weel be enough, less irritation, less acne.

How long should I expect this to last? I was thinking a week or two?

Not gonna lie. It's going to be more like months than weeks. Those that stick it out usually say that anyway. I gave up before I got past the flaky stage.
