Hello!
I started the regimen at the beginning of August, using just cleanser, BP, and moisturizer. That certainly helped clear my skin but my skin was super flaky. I changed my makeup from one medicated salicylic acid and added AHA and Jojoba oil, mixing it with moisturizer, alternating between one, the other, or both. That took care of the dryness and flakes, and now I've been breakout free for a few months. However, I get the occasional pimple right by my lip...what could be causing that?
Also, I've been wondering about different pigmentation and scarring from acne...is there something I can do to reduce that? Or will what I'm doing right now help that given enough time? I'm also wondering about makeup. I've noticed my skin feels and looks better at the end of the day when I don't wear makeup, but with the scarring, I'm reluctant to just not wear anything to even out the skin tone. What are some good, relatively cheap, foundation options to consider that won't cause more acne problems?
Thank you for your help!
Pimples on the chin, around the mouth and under the nose are generally hormonal. I know because mine used to be HUGE and painful and cystic. Now that I've gotten on top of my hormones they're more just like normal pimples (which I still have all over the rest of my face, but I just started the regimen yesterday).
I'll let someone else tackle the makeup question, but as far as fading redness I can vouch for Manuka honey. The only place I've found it is at health food stores and you need to make sure it says "Active" and is more than 10+ or 12+. I forget what exactly the number grade means. Before starting the regimen I would apply the manuka honey twice a day (no pre-wash or anything) and let it sit for as long as I could manage to stay in the house and not see anyone
For makeup the only advice I can give is to constantly wash your brushes and slowly cut down your use of it. A few months ago I was in the same boat as you and before I knew it I was having no problems not wearing makeup.
Before starting the regimen I thought my scarring was really bad but it was actually the fact that I would still keep getting a acne every now and then so my face was never healing. I can't say for sure time will work for you but I wouldn't rule it out.
