Going Off Benzoyl Peroxide

I have been using Benzoyl Peroxide religiously for about 2 years to treat my mild/moderate acne. I've gone from using 0.1% only at night, to using 2.5% morning & night, to using 2.5% just at night... and let me say, it honestly has done wonders for my skin. However, it is such a hassle to keep up with. I've been so afraid to break out again that I haven't gone off of it since. I wish that I would've tried other methods of treating acne before I started using BP.

If any of you guys have any tips for quitting Benzoyl Peroxide, or any alternatives, please let me know. I'm not going to go off of it immediately, but I can't keep doing this forever, it's a very strenuous process. And it's not because I'm lazy, either. Nothing can stop me from slathering it all over my face every night, it's been my routine for quite awhile, and it's worked well.

But I don't want to have such a complex routine anymore. I want to use more natural products; maybe with the exception of one or two.

HERE'S EVERYTHING IN MY SKINCARE BASKET RIGHT NOW:

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser: been using it for a year now, love this stuff, can't live without it, it's my holy grail cleanser

Acne.org's 2.5% BP: it's worked wonders for my skin, I use 2 pumps every night... but obviously I'd like to use less

Cetaphil Moisturizer for all skin types: (the one that comes in a jar) it's awesome, takes care of dryness, very thick & I use for night time

Jojoba Oil: Can't live without it, I always have 1 or 2 bottles on hand, I use this like crazy it's amazing for moisturizing

Juice Beauty Sport Moisturizer: it's waterproof, great for morning use in the summer, has tons of great ingredients, very natural

Dessert Essence Nourishing Day Cream: been using it for about a week, not sure what to think of it yet... feels nice

The Body Shop Nutriganics Gel-to-Oil Cleanser: Haven't tried this yet, but it's supposed to be pretty good for taking off makeup

Whatever you decide, do it gradually. I certainly wouldn't cold-turkey it.

I will never understand people who find something that works well, and they can't wait to get off of it. smile.png

I think we often forget the daily frustration of waking up to new breakouts every day.

There is no cure for acne, so even though you feel you have a complicated skin care routine, it's nowhere near as complicated as trying tons of different things in hopes of finding something simpler that may work. Good luck with your search though. I know none of us like to feel as if we are a slave to our acne medication but it's a heckuva lot better than being a slave to daily breakouts, imo.
