I'm New: Should I Use The Regimen?

Hey everyone,

I guess that I should start things off by introducing myself. My name is Jimmie, and I have suffered from acne for a couple of years. Nobody really knows how much acne affects my self-confidence. On most days, I like to spend my time inside. I enjoy watching movies, reading, and to be totally honest, I'm not very social (in person) because of my acne problems.

I could go on, but I guess the main thing I"m here to do is to cure my acne. I want to know if anybody else here has really had success with the regimen, and whether or not this is something I should invest my time into. I've tried acne pads, cleansers, and other treatments. I've also tried adjusting my diet, but still, I seem to have severe acne, especially on my chin area.

Any help would be appreciated more than anything in the world. I just want my life back.

I would definitely suggest you try the regimen. Esp if you have tried other things that haven't worked for you. I've posted on the site that my sons are doing the regimen, they are in their second week and it is working so well for them. Their skin is clearing up much faster than expected and they are really happy about it. I'm not sure how old you are, but they are 15 and 14. Please don't let acne hurt your self-confidence and bring you down! Give the regimen a try.

I don't want to takes away from your comment, but why? What is the difference between the two products?

The only thing that Proactiv has in common with the regimen is the 2.5% BP treatment (step 2). The Proactiv cleanser is much more

harsh than the cleansers that Dan recommends and the Proactiv toner is a step that is not recommended on the regimen. In

general the Proactiv system is going to be a lot more irritating to the skin. I think Dan discusses the Proactiv system in the FAQ's.

This makes a lot of sense, as I have noticed that Proactiv's beaded cleanser is a little harsh on my face. I've started the Acne.org regimen, and thus far, no side effects. I'm following Taylor's advice, and using Jojoba Oil (1 to 2 drops) with the 3rd step moisturizer.

Has anyone else had any experiences with Jojoba?

BryantMkIV, I'm glad you're clear! I'm just looking forward to all of the possibilities with Dan's system. I will keep you posted.

I just wanted to give you guys an update.

The regimen is working extremely well! I'm so excited. I'll keep you guys posted. It's been 2 weeks, give or take, and I haven't had any side effects.

I'm following Taylor Thompson's advice, which is to follow the regimen, but also moisturize with jojoba oil, upon doing a few other things, and I'm seeing amazing results. I just need to keep at it, and there is no doubt in my mind that I will be cleared up in a good 2 to 4 weeks!

You asked about Proactiv and I can say from experience it doesn't work at all. Before the regimen I used Clinique's acne system and it did work to a very high extent. It just wasn't 100% effective and that was highly frustrating because it seemed like I was always in the middle of healing from small breakout. The regimen has reached 100% effectiveness for me - I know if I get a breakout it's from deviating from it in some way.
