Hi, I'm a 29yr old Asian American male suffering from mild/severe cystic acne flare ups. Tried everything in the book including healthy diet, B5, Proactiv, oil cleansing..etc. If you have suffer from severe cystic acne like I do, please join me on this quest as we try to achieve optimal skin clarity. I don't even have the courage to snap a pic of my face to post at this point. This disease has consumed my life. I'm depressed and have no motivation. Please don't judge, I look like crap right now.
My Regimen kit comes in tomorrow, I am elated with joy! I am crossing my fingers and praying that this is THE ONE. I've endured so much hardship, embarrassment and pain.. I'm not sure how much more abuse my face and self-esteem can handle, as my confidence is completely shot.
I will be doing weekly updates on my progress. Wish me luck!
good luck! hope it is the answer you are looking for
Thank you!! It's either going to be this or Accutane I'm switching careers soon which requires me to deal with a lot of face to face human interactions. I'm praying to the acne gods to give me a break.
Wishing you lots and lots of luck! And don't get discouraged, keep with the Regimen! You may have some more breakouts initially, but it will get better! And above all, try to be patient and gentle with yourself
Thank you for the advice. I'm planning to incorporate the shower method ONLY! I will not be using my hands to wash off the cleanser. I figured that it would be one less irritating step to deal with.
Ok, so this is no joke. Last night, I felt a super big bump on my cheek. As it turns out, a super mega cyst decided to join the acne party on my face. These are the terrible ones that takes me well over months to heal leaving deep massive scars. Well I read on here that honey works as an all-night spot treatment so I gave it a shot last night and OMG!!!!!!! It has helped so much! My massive dime-sized cyst was itching to turn into a full blown monster but the honey has really subdued it. I can honestly say today that the cyst looked like it was in the dying stages. It looks popped, deflated and healed. Wow!!
The honey I used is organic Grade A, light amber.
My solution for applying honey before bedtime is quite simple. I just use a cotton swab, dab it in the honey and spot treat my face. After that i use paper napkins to gently blot the excess honey (don't use toilet paper). I gently blot for about a minute so that only a very thin layer of honey is still left of my cysts. Your face will still be a tiny bit sticky, but it won't get on your pillow or sheets. So the goal is to leave the honey residue overnight and wash it off in the morning. Nothing I've tried so far has worked this well on my active cysts. So awesome
Been there done that- was on accutane, but sadly it didn't work for me- strict diet changes did, no gluten and no dairy and it is amazing how fast the cysts went away...I still get an occasional one, but that is something you may want to try. I know you said healthy diet, but have you tried NO dairy and/or NO gluten, and I mean none? Everyone is different but dairy is a problem for a lot of us.
And yes we all wish you luck on your journey!

I've done the healthy diet with no success for cystic acne even though I intend to keep the healthy habits.
I've been on this healthy diet for about 4 months. Absolutely no dairy. Absolutely no sodas. I drink spring water exclusively. And very little gluten is in my diet. The reason I say that is because once in a while, I still get a chicken sandwich from whole foods. Other then that, my main diet consist of raw organic vegetables, fruits, nuts and lean protein.
well that is healthy...it is SO frustrating to know something is out of whack but not be able to pinpoint WHAT IT IS! It might be the nuts in your case. Have you ever thought of doing the food sensitivity testing? Or try keeping a journal of what you eat and when you get cysts. And maybe lay off the nuts for a couple of weeks and then start them back in.
try the regimine of course - I'm not a BP fan, I prefer SA and I despised the bleaching of every shirt, sheet and towel...but if it works it's worth it!

It is indeed very very frustrating to not be able to pinpoint the problem. So I threw out those variables on the side since it didn't have that positive of an effect on me.
Unfortunately for me, more and more signs point to it being a hereditary disease.. YIKES!!
When I was young, I remember seeing my dad with back acne. And then I saw my aunt's face (she was around 40 at the time) and how it exploded with cystic acne. I'm pretty sure I inherited this crap. There's no other logical explanation. I am healthier than the average person by a mile. I eat healthy, exercise, and drink nothing but water. I hate this!
Wishing you the best of luck on the regimen!!!
Thank you pinkbunny43!

So three days into the regimen and I'm seeing substantial improvement. For one, I haven't encountered any new breakouts which is unusual for me. The cystic acne has subsided into half of what it use to be. The inflammation is gone. I'm just praying it clears by Christmas.
I'm determined to go great lengths to find a permanent solution. So not only am I going to be using the Regimen, I am also going to combining it with some B5, a multlivitamin, increase the frequency of cardio exercises, gluten-free diet (my first time), taking organic honey orally and topically as a night time spot treatment and drinking spring water exclusively. No sodas, beers.. Nothing!!
This has to work, right? lol.. If not, then I freaking give up.
Atn...I wish you luck on your acne free journey. I have been on the regime for 2 weeks and 2 days and started seeing results in I week!. I absolutely love it and I know you will too!! I am an adult with acne so I feel your pain. Even though I started getting acne after the birth of my first child(at 25) and now I am 41 years old and still dealing with it I understand what you are going through. Don't give up hope!!! Stick with it and I hope it gives you the results you want, but be patient you may still get a couple breakouts. Keep the Faith.

I'm 41 too, and still dealing with acne, ugh! But, like you, The Regimen is working for me too ...I've had acne since I was 18...had a round of Accutane when I was 25 (which cleared me up quite quickly), but the side effects were horrible. Here's to beating these dreaded face demons once and for all, lol.
Sounds like you're doing great, Atn! And it sounds like the regimen is working for you. If you can combine that with a good diet, then you're doing everything you possibly can, and I'm sure your skin will get better and better!

and even if it does run in your family, you can still fight it and win....years ago they didn't have the knowledge we have now (or the sharing and support like this site)...you can do it!! please keep us posted
Yeah you're right, they didn't have the resources and support that I have. I'm definitely thankful for that.
I am now adding rosehip seed oil to my regimen as a spot treatment for some pigmentation. Hopefully these painful memories can fade soon.

Kamiller1972...I thought I was the only 40 something dealing with acne. How long have you been on the regime? How has it worked for you? I'm loving it so far. Only a couple of cystic breakouts that don't last too long ....but I'm keeping the Faith!!!

LOL, nope...I just turned 41 in October....this is my second go round with The Regimen...it worked so well the first time, I thought I could ditch the BP and go "all natural"....ugh, what a nightmare that created. So back on The Regimen I am and it's going very well! Keep the faith, absolutely! It gets better day by day, trust me!
Wow.. Ive been into regimen for almost 9 weeks now , im still breaking out.. And it leaves all marks now.. I dnt know what to use to fade all these red marks on my face that looks like acne.
goo for you though you've found the solution..
If you've been on the regimen for 9 weeks and still have breakouts... Then my first question to you is how's your diet? I've incorporated a ton of things to this regimen, so maybe it's the combination of Dan's regimen, my gluten-free/raw organic produce diet, taking 4tsp of raw organic honey, drinking spring water only (the best water for your body), and taking 3000 mg of B5 that's working for me. Also, I no longer eat any types of food that contains preservatives, artificial sugars, or processed. And I stop drinking sodas altogether. If you follow my regimen, maybe it could help you. As for the pigmentation, I'm using rosehip seed oil and Shea butter. They both possess powerful healing properties.
