Hi there.
So I've been on the regimen for about a month now. I've used BP extensively but never in conjunction with moisturizer, and never twice a day.
My flakes and dryness are soooo awful!! Normal moisturizer does very little to help. Jojoba oil mixed with moisturizer is the only relief I have...but I started breaking out on my chin so I stopped. It cleared up but the flakes were so bad I tried jojoba oil. Again, I broke out.
Does anyone have any experience with SpectroDerm (moisturizing cleanser) or spectrojel for dry skin?? Or should I use less of the BP? I started pretty quickly.
Here are some photos:
Are you using the 2.5% BP concentration?
You'll definitely want to use a moisturizer. Dry, irritated skin will make your acne worse and will cause your sebaceous glands to work overtime producing oil to try to compensate.
I don't have experience with the moisturizer you mentioned, but I'd suggest using natural oils like almond oil and evening primrose oil as moisturizers. Most cream/lotion moisturizers, even if they claim to be noncomedogenic, actually end up clogging pores due to all the sulfates, emulsifiers, and fillers present.
If you feel you have to have a cream moisturizer, I'd suggest Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture.
Noooo! I am still using a moisturizer it's neutrogena oil free for combo skin, but I wanted to see if a moisturizing clsnser used with the neutrogena would help...instead of jojoba oil.
What is your 'no' in reply to? I think I'm a little confused now. What cleanser are you using? I found the acne.org cleanser to be a little drying for me personally. I like Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash.
It sounds like you need oil moisture (natural oils) and not water moisture (cream moisturizers like the Neutrogena and "moisturizing" cleansers). I doubt a "moisturizing" cleanser would make that much of a difference anyway in terms of hydrating the skin. Try one or several of the following:
- argan oil
- olive oil
- rose hip seed oil
- avocado oil
- macadamia oil
- safflower oil
- almond oil
- borage oil
- apricot oil
- evening primrose oil
- vitamin E oil
- grapeseed oil
There is a difference between a moisturizing cream and jojoba oil.
Jojoba oil is a natural OIL. It stays longer on your skin, and helps moisturize better then a regular moisturizer.
But you don't want to use it without a moisturizer because alone it wont have the strength to do the job.
When you don't have the solution to a problem you cant count anything out.
You try everything till you find the answer.
