Hey, I live in the UK, so Dan's products are not readily available. After reading good review after good review I have decided to order some of the products off amazon.com after you guys give me some advice ;)

At the moment, twice a day I cleanse and exfoliate (the freederm range) and then moisturise. Two weeks ago I started using BP 5%, in 3 days my acne was really improving, but the next week was met with peeling skin, and even some cuts. I immediately stopped using the BP 5 and focused on healing my damaged skin. Now, my skin is no longer dry and is back to its soft state, but still with acne. So, I have decided to order some of Dan's products, but am unsure as to what to order. I was planning to order the whole range, but am wondering if I ordered JUST the 16oz BP 2.5 treatment, would this work well. I already cleanse and moisturise, but just not with acne.org products. If it would, then where would I fit this into my skin routine (cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise) would I just do it before the moisturiser or replace the exfoliator with Dan's BP? (cleanse, exfoliate,BP,moisturise) OR (cleanse,BP,moisturise). So would it be okay to use Dan's BP with my cleanser etc. and where would I fit it into my routine? Or should I order the whole range and scrap my current skin routine?

Thanks, I would REALLY appreciate your help, so i can place my order ASAP.

Cheers

Hey there and welcome to acne.org... I believe you may want to begin by reading the regimen in detail on the home page, it will answer a great deal of your questions... http://www.acne.org/regimen Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress...

Ok... I admit I'm confused, are you looking to follow the regimen but using your own cleanser, Dan's BP, and your own moisturizer? Also, what kind of cleanser and moisturizer are you using?

Oh aha sorry, yes, and whether or not to still use the exfoliator. I'm using the freederm facial cleanser, and simple spot cleansing moisturising cream. Thanks for your help by the way

Oh ok... lol Yes, it's fine to continue using your cleanser and moisturizer while using Dan's BP as part of the regimen. Just follow Dan's instructions on cleansing, BP application, and moisturizing using your products. However, you should keep in mind that the gentler the cleanser and moisturizer, the better... If you are using any products for acne prone skin, I would suggest not using them in conjunction with BP. BP is quite a harsh chemical so you don't want to use anything that will strip your skin of vital moisture and cause further irritation. I would strongly suggest considering some of the over the counter products Dan suggests or buying Dan's regimen kit directly. As someone that has used over the counter products for the regimen and has experimented quite a bit, I can honestly say Dan's products are far superior than any store bought or store brand products I've ever used, especially his BP and moisturizer (personally, I can't use his cleanser, so I stick to Cetaphil). As far as using the exfoliator, I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use it. Exfoliators tend to strip the skin of moisture and cause unnecessary irritation. If you would like to exfoliate, I'd strongly advise you use AHA about 6 to 8 weeks after beginning the regimen. Remember to start off really slowly and work your way up, just as you would with BP. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to PM me or respond.. We're all more than happy to help out... Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress... smile.png

Okay thanks, that's brilliant. Unfortunately my cleanser and moisturiser are for acne prone skin so I think I too, will go for the cetaphil cleanser after hearing good things about it. Any suggestions for a good moisturiser to use with the regimen? Thanks alot.

Not a problem... To answer your question, my personal favorite is Dan's moisturizer, closely followed by Cetaphil. Those are the only two moisturizers that don't break me out and give proper moisture to dry skin. If you're on a budget, I'd say just order Dan's 16oz BP (More bang for your buck) and purchase Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Moisturizer for all skin types. If you can afford it, my second choice would be to purchase Cetaphil gentle Cleanser, Dan's 16oz BP and moisturizer, and my final choice would be to purchase the entire regimen kit from the site. Hope this is helpful... smile.png

Cheers, very helpful :) Would you recommend changing cleanser/moisturiser even if I have been using them for 6 months with no breakouts? Or would changing be for the better? Thanks again :)

I believe if you are going to incorporate BP into your skincare regimen, you should definitely switch to a milder/gentler cleanser and moisturizer...

Okay thank you soo much for your help :P last question (hopefully), how long does it take for the products to arrive (I live in the UK)? And is amazon.com or acne.org quicker for delivery?

And also, I've seen like 3 different cetaphil cleansers; facial, all skin types, and normal. And 2 different cetaphil moisturisers; lotion and cream, have heard the cream is better, any advice? Cheers

HI Adam,

You'll want the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for all skin types.. Personally i hate it, as it has Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it, which aggravates my skin. But you might be ok. Many people love it.

As for moisturisers.... yeah, you'll want the cream.

Personally i find Boots Derma Care Daily Moisturising Cream to be the best. I absolutely love it... works great and it does not break me out.

ps: I get dans BP from amazon.

For UK delivery, I believe it would be best to check out the acne.org products board. I've attached a link to a helpful international shipping topic

Personally, I feel delivery is much faster through Dan's website than amazon, but I'm in the US, so it may be different for international shipping. As for the Cetaphil moisturizer, go with the Daily Moisturizer for Dry Skin. I always felt that creams are way too thick and don't really allow your skin to breath, but it's a matter of personal preference. I'd suggest buying the small travel size Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer and see how you like it. If you don't, you can always try one of Dan's suggested products or looking for your own. Just be sure to follow Dan's suggestion list for store brand products while using the regimen http://www.acne.org/supplies-guide.inc.html

Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress... smile.png

Thanks all, I decided to go to the doctors for the first time about my acne today, before perhaps buying Dan's products. He prescribed me "Zineryt", a roll on solution, I guess I'll see how this goes, and then maybe order Dan's products if results are poor. Does anyone know much about this Zineryt, if it's effective and what I can expect? Ive read mixed reviews, some say its amazing, some not so. Again thanks for your help guys, you're awesome :)
