I'm almost finished my second week of the regimen and my skin is pretty miserable. I cleared a little bit in the first week but this week has been so brutal for me. My skin isn't very red but it's flaking off like crazy. I have to use a ridiculous amount of moisturizer just to be comfortable. I also broke out with some of the biggest and painful acne of my life. I have several big, deep, irritated cysts when I usually only get one the week before my period and I have a ton of smaller pimples. Since I upped the BP dosage to two times per day my skin has stung for an hour after applying moisturizer. I feel pretty helpless right now. I've been considering using jojoba oil for my dryness but my skin is typically pretty oily.
I'm also having a really, really hard time finding a time I can do the regimen consistently every day. I wake up and do my first regimen at 5 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I can commute to school. On Mondays and Fridays I can make it home for 5 to do my second regimen of the day but on Wednesdays I have class until 7:30 and not home until 9:30 at night. On the rest of the days I wake up and do my first at 8 or 9 have no problem doing it again 12 hours later. Doing the regimen later in the day at school isn't an option. I feel stuck. Should I just try to do it whenever I can, 12 hours apart or should I vary in the mornings and do it at the same time every night?
I've read so many stories of "It gets worse before it gets better." but it's hard not to give in with all this trouble.
If your skin is burning for an hour at any time, you are irritating it and probably doing more damage than good. If you only have mild acne, only use the BP at night and only moisturize in the morning. You need to be somewhat flaky for BP to show it's working. It sloughs off dead skin and that is the flakiness. If you didn't see this, then I'd be concerned. Where the concern lies is the burning. Your skin is telling you to STOP.
the first month was hell for me. i started at the end of nov. 2012. skin was dry and i also broke out with the worst cysts like 4 or 5... it DOES get better. right now i am clear. if the BP burns i would say use less for now but your face will get used to it and you can slowly ad more. good luck!
I am having exactly the same issues, very flaky, dry skin and some large, cystic pimples on my face. After Week one I was really cleared up and didn't notice any dry skin, but now it's definitely dry with the appearance of these large painful cystic pimples I would almost never get. Week two has been rough for me, but I'm hoping that what everyone says, that it WILL get better, is true. I work in retail, and it's not easy to have to run to the restroom all the time to make sure my face doesn't look like it's peeling off while I'm talking to customers..
I also used a little of the BP on my neck, because I sometimes get the occasional pimple there, but now my neck is so dry and flaky it feels like a lizard!!! Has that happened to anyone? I've stopped applying BP to it but it's stayed like that for the past couple of days.
I've also been noticing a mild burn after upping the BP dose to 2 pumps 2x/day, so i'm going to lessen that a bit so I don't irritate my skin. Hopefully the next few weeks will be better for us!

That isn't always the case. My skin showed no signs of flaking. I only applied BP once per day, and sometimes didn't follow up with a moisterizer, but it still didn't show any flakyness or redness.
This could have been due to a couple of things. Firstly, I only used the smallest amount of BP on my face that would just about cover it with the thinnest layer. Despite using such a tiny amount, I was still clear in 8 weeks as shown in my gallery photos (although my regimen did include other treatments). Far be it from me to contradict Dan on this, but I found that putting on the recommended amount was too much. It felt very uncomfortable & I felt like I had a mud pack on my face.
Secondly, I am no spring chicken!. I have had acne for decades, so perhaps my older skin is not so sensitive compared to someone half my age.

Yep. If BP is causing any redness/excessive flaking/stinging, then I would definately cut down on it's use, perhaps even stop completely for a few days to let the skin settle down before starting again on a reduced application.
Thanks for the replies, guys. I lessened my dose slightly and am only applying it to the areas that I get acne now. I never get spots on my cheeks, jawline and temples and I was getting really flaky there. The tingling has pretty much stopped. Only for a minute or two after applying moisturizer and when it's windy outside. I'm still getting my usual amount of acne forming but it seems to be healing quicker than usual now.
