my skin broke out starting the regimen!

I bought one of each DK products because..i assumed it'd be more effective using just one brand for the regimen.

My sister's BP gel arrived before my shipment( i ordered mine separately because i was told of this site a week after she bought one for herself). I used Cetaphil wash, her DK BP gel, then Vaseline moisturizer. My skin broke out the next morning!!

I have no zits/acne on my face. I have very very mild "acne"/ and whiteheads on the nose. Maybe in every two/three months i have a big cyst on my cheek or near my nose that bothers me ALOT. It scars my face and hurts like hell. I was hoping keeping up with this regimen will keep clear of my face continuously..

I dont know what to do..i have a couple of pimple zits on my cheek and one on my chin ahhhhh :(

I have sensitive/hypo allerginic skin..i should've read the threads here before buying them.

Mind you, i had to pay 20dollar shipping and 25dollars in custom fee.. Anyone (Canadians/International buyers who'd have to pay extra fees of some sort) wants to buy mine?

Im willing to ship for free and possible discount..since i wont be using it anyway. Im quite afraid to try the cleanser and the moisturizer too :S

ugh i dont know what to do with it, waste of money.. or should I stick with the regimen because this happens in the beginning due to the BP gel and my skin will eventually get used to the formula and prevent my skin from breaking out??

You should definitely use the BP and stick to the Regimen. Vaseline moisturizer? Not a good choice, quite frankly. :( Vaseline the petroleum jelly is better, but not good for an everyday moisturizer. Some people find that Cetaphil moisturizers work for them. Some like the DKR moisturizer. I like Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 15; it's light, clean and works very very well without irritating the skin.

The gentle wash is a great thing to continue using. From what I hear, Dan's BP is very finely milled so that it goes on smoothly and nicely. It works for so many people, so I do suggest trying it out for at least a month. Be sure to follow the regimen and not go overboard too fast.

Others with more DKR knowledge will be able to help you out more. :) Good luck!

thx for the info. Well, I just tried Once and the product reacted like that..

I only use Vaseline Intensive moisturizer around my mouth because that's where my skin's most dry. Petroleum Jelly is too thick and sticky.I use Lancome day cream which works well with my skin.

The thing is my face was pimple free before trying this regimen.. The only reason why i wanted to try this is because of the one Huge cyst that appeared on my cheek(which happens, like i said every 2-3months and lasts for AT LEAST 2-3weeks. too painful and visible to cover up with foundation). What i did after using the BP and seeing its reaction was..i cleansed my face with DHC cleansing oil after wearing makeup and using Cetaphil/Lancome foam cleansing wash in the morning. Moisturizing with cetaphil moisturizer..

I didnt try to 'pop' any of them. It has almost gone down now.

I should've read the forum before buying the product because ppl are saying after you get off the regimen, you will have severe acne..so this is like ProActive, right?(which i used when i did have moderate acne back in the days+ oral medication) Once you stop using the product,it's going to come back. is this true? OMG..

I know for certain when my skin does "breakout" a bit, it's caused by bacteria..probably from makeup and when i eat something oily. Cetaphil or any other gentle wash DO NOT remove makeup so well..

my issue is these little bumps(and visible pores :( ).. what are these? and is it necessary for me to use the BP gel??

I really dont want to breakout using the BP gel like that again. It took me 3 years to go from severe/moderate acne on forehead and cheeks to this.. i just worked out regularly at the gym and sweated all the toxins out. I just cleansed my face with foam wash from H20+ and the body shop. i stopped using/depending on acne wash like clean&clear after my skin started to improve. In fact, I guess getting out of the teen years helped too?

stick with the regimen you broke out maybe because your skin is adjusting. Exact same thing happened to me after a week it went away and ive been clear since!

Is it necessary to do the regimen every day?? I seriously think BP is too harsh on my skin but I also know jus regular cleaning won't help me get rid of these..* little bumps* like i have a rash on my cheeks or something yikes!

For some ppl, acne has come back to haunt them after having to stop following the regimen.

i was wondering if i do the DKR perhaps once or twice a week and do regular cleansing..would it give me the same result i want?

I know this is really bad lol i used to use St. Ives Apricot scrub to cleanse my face daily.-_-

If you don't get regular acne & just an occasional cyst, I wouldn't do DKR, but that is just my opinion. Rather I would just spot treat that occasional cyst or it may just be overkill. Almost everyone gets an occasional pimple, even people with currently clear skin on DKR.

However, DKR recommended face washes & moisturizers are good products for anyone who wants gentle & effective skin care, IMO. You may want to try a little BP once a day where you tend to get cysts if you want to try to prevent them, especially if they scar.

The regimen does not cause severe acne. People who have acne & stop using DKR to treat it will inevitably start breaking out again. If you feel that DKR made you break out it could be that you do not need such a strong acne treatment. Very rarely, some people do have an allergic reaction to BP, which is pretty clear when it happens (severe burning & pussing & that sort of thing).

If you do get consistent acne, then follow DKR closely & use the recommended products. Whatever you have lying around the house already may contain ingredients that are comedogenic or too harsh.

The first few months on DKR you will experience side effects like dryness, flaking, slight burning/stinging, redness, and breakouts (that will slowly decrease over time). If after 3 months you don't see any improvement then it may not be for you. Also, those side effects dramatically decrease over time, just as the breakouts will. Your skin has to adjust.

I have the same problems with little rash like bumps and that's why I'm trying the regimen but one week in and I'm getting huge acne around my chin and cheek area and I still have the little bumps. I used st Ives everyday too and I wonder if that could be the cause of the little bumps

I have little bumps too ! :( and I'm on my 4th month. Odd. But I don't think it's the BP. I think it's the Olay moisturizer I switched to. Actually, probably my fault, I change moisturizers too much because it's hard to find a non comedogenic one for oily acne prone skin in general. Yesterday I went to Lush and the lady tole me Magical Moringa is good for oily acne prone skin. I used it the same night, yesterday as my moisturizer and my bumps have significantly reduced. So I'm gonna keep using that and seeing how it goes.

And it's not the regimen that makes acne come back. I have a problem with people saying this. Let's look at it this way, You've got acne, you use BP or any other treatment, it makes the acne go away and you're clear. When you stop using it, duh, it's not like it's the reason why it came back, your face is just gonna go back to the way it was before the treatment. And if something works for you, why stop though? Acne is recurring, it's idk if I should say continuous, it doesn't just come and go like a cold. Hope you understand me.

PS: You don't have to follow the regimen when you get clear, just use any cleanser, BP, and moisturizer.

I still have the little bumps and I'm on week 2. I have also been breaking out like crazy, when I used proactiv plus I didn't have this problem. I found a very affordable oil free fragrance free moisturizer made by equate. You can get it at Walmart
