Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment

I have used treatments in the past with benzoyl peroxide and my face reacted adversely, making the little bit of acne I did have worse. The same happened with salicylic acid. In both instances my skin became extremely dry and flaky, red and irritated, and I continued to use the products because I expected some irritation due to the fact that it was a new product. However, my skin continued to behave as such. Has anyone had a similar experience and seen a good outcome with this product?

Irritation, dryness and flaking are all normal reactions to BP, even when BP is working and clearing you up. These side effects can last quite awhile but in most cases goes away with continued use once skin has adjusted, like CP points out. These should never be reasons to quit BP treatment, but unfortunately they're the main reason people eventually give up, even if it's working.

The Regimen requires the right mind set in order to be truly successful. If the user is determined enough and sick of disgusting acne, then putting up with some minor discomfort for awhile in exchange for clear skin will seem pretty worth it. The key to Regimen success is to muscle through the side effects and keep your eye on the prize! |::)

Hi CP and Delovely, I started the "Acne.org" regime 13 days ago and as expected, I experienced itching and irritation which is better now.  However, the 2nd week has brought FLAKINESS, DRYNESS AND PEELING and it's quite embarrassing walking about with one's face looking funny.  I know it's still early days being the 2nd week but i was just wondering if i could get tips on what to do?.   Many thanks.  HELP!!!

Many thanks for your responses. My face indeed has improved but I still have brown spots from old acne and wondering how long it would take to have a completely clear skin?. Also, I have run out of the cleanser (face wash) and using a natural/traditional soap instead but still have the BP and moisturizer (running out as well). Would it have any negative effect?. Which substitute cleanser would you recommend please?. I will be placing an order at some point today.
