Hello everyone, I have barely started using Dan's Aha and when I do I notice i get a new pimple forming the very next day. The first time I tried Aha i got one the next day and stopped using and now (a week later after the pimple was gone) I have tried again with another pimple forming. I have been on the regimen for about a month and a half now so I dont know if there is still lingering acne. Has anyone using Aha had this problem and if so, would you recommend I continue using it as it will subside? Any information will be helpful, thank you

I was still breaking out during my 3rd and 4th week so I do not think it is the AHA. I've even read regimen users that break out until their 8th week. It's different for everybody so don't be too alarmed. Keep using the AHA. It really helps with the flaking. Use it every two or three days.

The thing that surprised me about is that I was clear for quite sometime and as soon as I used the Aha I saw one coming. So I dont know. I think I will give it another try some other time when Im completely sure that there is no other reason for the breakouts. Thanks for the help!

Some people experience acne purging when getting used to AHA. It may last for 2-4 weeks, but after that, its said your skin is suppose to look great. Im just starting today so I wouldnt know.

Yup, I broke out again when I started using AHA+, but once that all cleared (within a week or so) I noticed that my skin was incredibly smooth. So pretty much all the tine underskin bumps that I hadn't really noticed before had all come to the surface. I didn't notice all the tiny bumps until they were all gone and I then realised what completely acne free skin feels and looks like.

I suggest continue to use the AHA, and don't stop and start it. If you get a few new breakouts, don't worry, keep going and once they are healed you will be left with glowing skin. AHA is amazing stuff. :)

hey!

some say that it's the 'initial breakout'.

many dnt have it..but most others do.

am not sure if mine was purging from aha then(for it happened after abt 1 week since i started using aha wash).

my derma said that i should continue using it.

i was using salicylic acid foaming face wash(saslic) (1%) twice daily.i still do.

i am satisfied.=)

what's ur % ??

When did you start using AHA? Do you still get acne from it?

Hey thanks for the feedback everyone! So I did continue using AHA+ (mixed half and half with moisturizer plus jojoba oil) and I am happy with my decision. I do believe its helping and want to know how often should I use it if I mix it with the moisturizer? I use it about 4 times a week and don't know if I should use it every night.

Its a personal thing really how often to use. I guess you skin will determine how much it can tolerate. I built up slowly from half AHA/moisturiser a few times per week to just AHA by itself every night. Took around 2-3 weeks to get to that point though.

Do you think its possible to be able to use it twice a day. At night only AHA and at morning 50/50 (or less, but the point is to use it twice)?

You may be experiencing the purge because you are applying too much AHA initially. Try using the same amount of moisturizer you'd normally use and add a few drops of AHA. Then, as AyeAye states, work your way up, such as 3/4 amount moisturizer to 1/4 AHA, then 1/2 moisturizer to 1/2 AHA, so on and so on... When I used this method, I didn't purge and have used AHA with great success. Everyone's skin is different but you are probably experiencing the purging because you're using too much in the beginning. Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress! :)

I would say twice a day is too much, as it is an exfoliating product which could be tough on your skin if used too often. But hey, I'm no expect. Maybe give it a go twice a day for a couple of days a week and see how you go?

Personally though I couldnt imagine wearing AHA during the day (at least out in public anyway) because it always 'balls' up when I apply and i end up with yellow bits of dried up AHA all over my face. Its makes me very attractive. It does you know ;) Why doesn't anyone believe me? :D

Yes, sorry i havent been updating life is getting busy. Im still getting pimples, but they are very small (zits im guessing) in comparison to cysts and they hardly come now. It has also made my skin soft! So id say its been good a product and will continue using it. I have decided to just use a small amount of AHA, about 1/4 of finger length. The only down side is that it has made me tan, which looks kind of weird cause im pale. Hope this helps!
