I'm a bit confused because there is just a lot of contradictory experience on this forum (yes I've done my best to filter through existing topics)so I would really appreciate your help/anyone's experience taking B5 at only ~500mg a day and theeffectson their hair

I recently started taking B5 everyday (550mg) because I have more or less tried everything for my cystic acne and did see that it has helped some people. Not megadosing because I already saw that hair loss could be a side effect. But even at 550mg the label on the vitamins I have say it is about 11000% of the daily value (is this right?). I have only taken it for five or six days but I came across a few people who even had permanent hair loss at 1g a day for a weeks and now I am freaking out. If you've tried this (or if you haven't) or if you're a doctor lol ....what are my chances of doing some permanent damage?

I'm panicking and don't really know if I shouldn't be too worried or if I should be really worried.

And yes I know I should have done a bit more research before plausibly messing up my vitamin balances but I had reached a ~anything for clear skin~ place, rash/dumb of me but I can't go back now... I also have not seen much improvement in my skin in the past few days for anyone that was contemplating this.

As you can probably see I am a pretty anxious person so I apologize in advance if I asked any stupid questions.

thanks:')

Don't worry about it mate I took it for about 2 weeks, stopped it and have no hair loss or side effects. From my understanding the majority of hair loss occurs due to a biotin deficiency, as it competes with b5. So even if you did experience hair loss your biotin levels will probably return to normal via homeostasis.

Some people will indeed get hairloss, i think it has to do with the fact that a large dose of b5 can be sort of toxic. Everyone is saying b5 is a water vitamin so you can not overdose but that is just not true. Everything, even water, can be toxic with the right dose.

So my advise is quiting these b5 pills since it is not an actual cure and you need to overdose which is just not good. Yes some people might have gone away with overdosing without side effects, but some people have permanent hairloss or other weird side effects. The fact that it causes PERMANENT hairloss says enough. Just dont take it there are other cures.

I have taken b5 myself but it gave me more acne and i just could not live with the fact that it could give me hairloss. So i stopped taking it and i now fixed my hormonal acne with dim and spearmint tea. These are hormonal herbs so if you have hormonal acne this might work for you.

Good luck on your acne journey i wish you the best!!

Yes! I noticed some hair shedding while doing B5. Started taking a dailyBiotin pill and within a week it stopped. B5 is a miracle and I have cleared my acne in a month taking 15x550mg pills a day with no side effects besides the bit of shedding. Probably wouldnt have noticed that if I hadnt already known it was a side effect.
