Acne when going vegetarian

I'm new and searching for some acne advice when I feel as though I have no options left. Over the summer, I went vegetarian and slowly gained acne, although I have never had a serious acne problem before. I thought maybe I was vitamin deficient, but I was tested and all my levels were normal. Then I thought maybe it was the soy, so I cut out all fake meat and started eating more veggies and beans. Nothing helped, so I tried to go natural with honey face wash and aloe vera gel. I thought I was seeing some improvement, but my acne did not go away. Since then, I have tried coconut oil, hydrogen peroxide, and many other topical treatments. It got to the point where I felt depressed, and I decided to eat meat again. I thought that if I ate how I did before I got acne, maybe I would get back whatever I may be missing from my diet. It's been a few weeks, and I am still breaking out. Mostly just small pimples all over my face, a couple cysts but nothing serious. I do not want to go on Accutane, and I am not sure what to do at this point. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! It is getting to the point where I do not want to leave the house.

Watch your carb intake, including fruits. Sometimes a vegan or vegetarian diet can end up being a very high glycemic or high carbdiet, which can cause skin problems.

When I switched to a vegetarian diet I didnt see much change in my skin. I still had breakouts and redness. It wasnt until I started eating a strictly plant-based diet for a month that I saw results. Before I went vegan my skin was oily and blotchy. I would get new acne almost every day. Since going vegan I rarely get acne but when I do its minor and hardly noticeable. My skin has natural oils to keep it moistened but its very different from my previous unhealthy oily skin.

You can still have unhealthy skin on a vegan diet depending on what you consume. You should know that along with eating a plant-based diet I dont drink soda, eat packaged foods that have unhealthy ingredients (hydrogenated vegetable oil, etc.), and I rarely eat refined sugars (white sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, powdered sugar). I also dont wear makeup more than two or three times a month.

No matter what your diet is its important to pay attention to what youre putting in your body. Once you start to cut back on the things that cause damage to your body inside and out, you will begin to see real results in the overall health of your skin.

I was a vegetarian for two years, but began eating meat while I was living abroad, and I started breaking out. Maybe the acne is connected to diet changes, and not necessarily what kind of diet. Anyways, I do believe staying veg is the best option!
Do you still eat milk products? Because these are product known to cause acne, especially "low-fat" milk products, such as greek yoghurt and skimmed milk.
