So I'm sick to death of myself.
Lounging around indoors feeling sorry for myself because of my acne and terrible skin.
I've decided to not just sit on antiobiotics and pray for the best but to get active and change my diet. It's time to start being positive in life but I need help with my healthy eating choices and exercising.
Please chime in and offer advice for me; Here's the food plan..
The healthy eating is somewhat very bland, especially when it'll be week on week routine.
Blimey, not sure what happened when I copied/pasted but the table messed up a bit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

As for exercise, I plan on running 3x a week and to continue setting goals that bests my previous up the point I can run 3 mile okay, and to continue running with that.
Please help me, I'm not very good with eating in general so I appreciate any advice, and or alternatives to what I have put.
Good for you for wanting to make lifestyle changes to help your skin!! This diet is a great start!!! I'd add a few more servings of veggies, it's a little light on those. One serving of green veggies isn't enough. Here's a list of some recommended "super foods" from the "veggie rainbow" that are also great for your skin and full of antioxidants, and great sources of vitamins A, C, and K:
Orange - Carrots, Sweet potatoes, Orange bell peppers
Yellow - Yellow bell peppers
Red - Red bell peppers, Tomatoes
Purple - Beets
Green - Kale, Spinach, Romaine lettuce, Broccoli
Great you're avoiding starches which are nutritionally devoid, and avoiding gluten. Oatmeal is a great healthy grain to have. Throw some chia seeds into your breakfast for extra protein and fiber! Veggies and fruit are great carb sources!! Most people don't think of them as carbs but they are and don't convert into sugars. Protein looks adequate with a variety of meats and nuts. Consider adding some fermented veggies for probiotics, great alternative if you're not consuming yogurt and avoiding dairy. A cup of bone broth per day is also a welcome addition to any healthy diet, great for gut health, and good source of protein.
Excellent job!!!

Hi DeLovely,
Thank you for your input! So shall I add these on top of the green veg serving already? Or put them in with Lunch?
Veggies with red/orange and yellow peppers. Kale, Spinach also plus Sweet potatoes for some filler for jsut dinner, or both Lunch and dinner?
Thanks!

As long as you consume something from all the colors of the "veggie rainbow" over the course of a week, you've got your vitamins covered! Definitely add a serving of fresh raw colorful veggies at lunch to go with your chicken salad. Since you're having your greens at dinner, consider varying your lunchtime veggies each day. One day have carrots, the next have beets, the next have tomatoes, the next peppers, that sort of thing. You also might consider having a baked sweet potato baked in its skin a few times a week with dinner. One of the most nutrient-dense veggies you can put in your stomach. With a little salt and pat of butter, it'll seem downright decadent yet it's ridiculously healthy!
Avocados are another nutrient powerhouse! A few slices would go well on your lunch plate with chicken salad and veggies!

I forgot to add, drinks wise. I'm slowly cutting out the teas and coffee's and started to drink just water, water is bland and wondered what else I could possibly drink?
If you had a juicer, many people drink their veggies and lots of tasty juice recipes online! Kombucha tea is another great drink packed with naturally occurring enzymes and probiotics. GT's is my favorite brand, lots of tasty flavors to choose from. We're partial to Guava Goddess. My son drinks a cup every day! But otherwise you're better off with good old fashioned "Adam's Ale" (aka H2O)!

Yeah I'm not huge fan of juicing although many love it. I'd rather chew my veggies!!
I have also heard that apple cider vinegar is good for you, do you know anything about it? Apparantly a spoonful of ACV in a glass of water is good, you can also add honey. Might be a good drink for the morning with breakfast?
Here's an article I found. I don't know much about ACV but many on here swear by it. You can decide for yourself!

I would avoid fruits and bars with a lot of sugar in them (pretty much all of them).
Maybe eat only low GI fruits like blueberries, strawberries, blackberries- they have antioxidants, vit. C and are very low in sugar.
I have yet to find a bar that is low in sugar/carb and high in protein/fiber that tastes good. Why don't you incorporate peanut butter? It's low GI, low sugar, high protein and fiber?
You can also try to incorporate an organic clean protein from vegan protein powder on some days because I don't know if meat is a good way to go to beat acne.
Apple cider vinegar helps digest carbs better, by about 30%, so if you're having beans/legumes, you can add a spoon of ACV. It also helps regulate your insulinand a steady leveled insulin (instead of one that spikes up and down) is key to maintaining clear skin.
I drink a lemon with a glass of water every morning because it detoxesthebody very well, itbalances the ph and supplements the bodywith vit. C.
I would suggest drinking at least 2L of clean bottled water (no tap) every day. The toxins in your body must be flushed out.
Good luck!!!

I was going to add the blueberries and rasberries into my porridge, would that be okay?
How much fruit intake daily should you have? I'll try the lemon with a glass of water and add that to my breakfast as a drink?
I drink 2-3 litres of water a day, at least 2 litres but anything more is a bonus.
Thank you!
Fruit is great, but when it comes to acne I feel like we have to consume very little sugar, even if it comes in the former of fructose. It's up to you to decide how many grams a day of sugar you want to consume. I used to use an app called MyFitnessPal that tracks my nutritional intake, but since my diet became super strict and I no longer consume fruits I do not use it anymore. My only concern now is to make sure i get enough protein, which is why i have beans and legumes every day as well as 1 serving of organic vrgan protein powder. I recommend using the app so you can have an idea of the sugar and the carbs in your diet. If you cut out the meat, you'll have to track your protein in the beginning until you get a pretty good idea yourself without tracking how many scoops of protein you need.
Back to your question, blueberries and strawberries are completely harmless fruits because they're more acidic and less sweet (unlike let's say mango, pineapple, grapes, bananas). All the berries are safe to consume because they have a low glycolic index. I wouldnt really limit myself in the berry department. Id have a whole box- I believe it's about a pound of each if I want to.
If you want to go an extra step further I'd replace the porridge with something less starchy, because starches are loaded with carbs.... but listen, I understand that we need to get our energy from somewhere..... so try to limit complex carbs or starchy vegetables, increase the carbs from green vegetables, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, etc. (Variety is key) and you'll be good. For the protein intake, besides the vegan powder, I'd suggest beans and legumes, because they're like half protein and half carbs that digest slowly in your system so there are no insulin spikes. To make your salads more delicious I'd use avocado with vinegar or with lemon juice for a dressing, or peanut butter mixed with some water and vinegar, a bit lemon and raw honey...... I know it's a very limiting diet, but it really helps....
I read in your previous post that you don't like the bland water- add steviato it! It's a sugar-free sweetener. You can also add your berries in your water too, shake it up a little and add some ice to turn it into a nice spring/summer refresher. Besides water, I drink green tea, because it's proven to help acne. A cup or two of green tea a day is enough, so I don't see anything wrong if you decide to drink the rest of your water by makingnaturally flavored tea.
I have a huge variety of vegetables now on my list, and certainly a variety it is.
I'll increase the berry intake, I wont drop the porridge for now since it's the only breakfast I actually enjoy but i'll mix the berries in with it.
I'm okay with drinking plainw ater up to a point, perhaps when it starts to get boring I might try throwing something in it for flavour. I know that some people put pineapple in it, sounds interesting.
I'm trying to get into green tea, no idea what green tea to be looking for though. Any advice?
Thank you
