Hello!!!
I'm not sure if there are any experts here. Unfortunately I've postponed this for a very long time... mainly because the symptoms of possible colon cancer have been on and off nonstop.
One thing that is pretty much regular is that my stools are loose, usually in little pieces, and I usually never feel 'empty' after each trip to the washroom.
Sometimes I'll get blood in my stools, but they're not exactly 'in' my stool... What I mean is that there's blood in the waters of the toilet.
I also have go to #2 at least 4 times a day (the morning usually being the biggest trip) and it feels like as the day progresses my stomach's digestion dies down and it becomes harder to pass stool.
I have taken Accutane in the past, but I'm not 100% sure if my reason for these are because of Accutane. I've had constipation issues before Accutane, but after Accutane, I've been able to use the washroom for quite alot... kinda make sense? What's really weird is WHILE I was on accutane, my bowel movements were PERFECT. I would get beautifully formed stools, always going in the morning and maybe another trip throughout the day. The stools would come out with ease too~
I feel bloated if I can't get a bowl movement - but I have no vomitting, no cramps, no fatigue, and no weight loss (but I'm already soo skinny, I can't even tell if losing weight is possible o_o)
Any help is appreciated! Going to see my doctor soon but their office hours are weird and conflicting my work schedule :L
Irritable bowel syndrome, colitis and Crohns disease are possible side effects of accutane. My boyfriend took accutane years ago and still has bowel issues and joint pain. I mean I'm no doctor but its not likely cancer.
Accutane dries out mucus in the digestive tract as well as diminishing serotonin which is made in the digestive tract.
Maybe you need to up your fiber and fluid intake and start taking things to calm your digestion like ginger, licorice tea, bone broth and probiotics.
Hi Dailee,
I took isotretinoin about 10years ago, and similarly have had ongoing issues with "constipation", which sometimes causes anal fissues (painful defecation) and bleeding.
Only now have I figured out, that it is due to excessive drying of my anal canal by the drug, making it very unlubricated for stools to get out.
Anyway, if you can keep an open mind, what i do now is extremely effective for me (if it works for you, let me know). Some people with anal fissures use vaseline to treat it. What I do is that after a shower, put a finger tip of vaseline on the anus. it will work its way inside gradually just from walking around, and make the canal very slippery for even slightly dry stool to slide out without trauma.
Good luck!
