Hey guys, first post
Recently got diagnosed with diabetes (despite being only 21, and 6"1 and 165 lbs) as it runs in my family. I cut back significantly on my sugar intake which drastically reduced my acne. However, the odd time, it still pops up out of nowhere (whiteheads and pimples always around my mouth/chin/nose.
I go out of my way to not touch my face, clean my pillows/sheets and drink a shit ton of water- so I have that covered. I also exercise 4 times a week and am relatively stress-free so I like to think the main thing I need to fix is my diet.
Here's what I generally eat now in my diet:
FOOD:
- Instant Oatmeal (sugar free)
- Eggs
- Avocados
- Sugar-free Vanilla Syrup
- Chicken
- Beans
- Rice
- Blueberries & Raspberries
- Salad
- Onions, tomatoes, .etc
QUESTIONABLE FOOD:
- Lots of Beef Roasts
- Shredded Cheese
- Lots of Coffee
- 10% Cream (in coffee)
- Natural (sugar free) Peanutbutter (about 1-2 spoonfuls a day)
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Pasta
- The odd bread (I get subway 1-2 times a week haha)
- Hotsauce?
- Coconut Oil?
- Hot peppers?
I cut out yogurt, milk, juice, sugar drinks, any sweets and most fruit. No more sugar in my coffee but I use "splenda" or the other odd artifical sweetener. I rarely drink alcohol these days but still get loaded up on beer once in a while and eat pizza- next day I'm completely inflamed and breaking out.
Any tips or advice? Also, foods I should eat more of?
Thanks guys! (and no thats not me in the profile pic haha)
Hi, dairy of any kind seems to cause instant breakouts for me. Even coffee creamer, yes. I use soy or almond creamer.
Bananas and avocados give me hives!...
Some people say inflammation is the cause so anything that could cause inflammation perhaps. Peanuts and fatty meats, possibly. If you have rosacea type acne then hot sauce could make it worse too. I have no issues with seeds and nuts but everyone's different.
A friend of mine is allergic to tomatos which are nightshades so anything like eggplant, potatos or tobacco could be icluded IF tomatos are an issue for you.
Oatmeal, berries, rice, chicken without antibiotics vegies etc are probably ssafe sugar free stuff doesn't break me out but it gives me diarrhea.
I have recently found that Splenda or Sucralose has been my biggest trigger for the last 2 years & since dropping it in the past 14 days everything is healing & clearing rapidly.
I have cut several things in & out of my diet including peanut butter, sugar, creatine & many other things to no avail over the past 18 months.
Please try to remove all products with any artificial sweeteners from you diet. In my case it was effervescent vitamins, dilutable fruit juice, protein bars & any flavoured sports supplements. (protein & pre-workout)
The sucralose was clearly affecting my gut bacteria. Interesting to see just how few studies there. As if the dangers are being hidden.
It's the only thing I see in your lists that would be doing the damage. Everything else seems pretty good & even the bad things won;t cause problems in moderation.
