Hey guys! So this is my first post but I've been a lurker on this sight for almost 10 years! I am a 23 year old female and I started getting acne when I was around 13. Through the years I've had periods of clear skin due to being on birth control and spironolactone. However these medications always made me extremely emotional and gave me some negative side effects so I always hoped I would be able to clear my skin naturally without any medications. About six months ago I quit birth control and spironolactone and started eating a high carb Low fat raw vegan diet. This diet kept my acne away and my skin glowing for about 5 months and then I started experimenting and eating more cooked vegan foods such at oatmeal, potatoes and rice. I started breaking out again not severely just little bumps on the forehead. Instead of eliminating these foods from my diet though I thought maybe I could fix these small blemishes by experimenting with my face routine. I had been doing sort of a modified caveman routine using just water most days and not wearing makeup. Once or twice a week I would wash my face with black soap to remove dead skin. But now I thought maybe I should experiment with doing more topical things to help my skin. I started with applying salt water to my face which just made me break out even more. Then I tried honey, apple cider vinegar, washing my face with black soap and applying shea butter. I didn't do all these things at once but I would try one for a week and then quit it due to breakouts and try something else.
I don't know what I was thinking. You would think after ten years of suffering with acne and seeing how easily my skin freaks out I would know better than to experiment with so many different products. Alas acne makes us do crazy things sometimes haha.
Anyways after all of my experiments I am left with possibly the worst acne and skin texture I've ever had. Not only do I have a few inch sized cysts (which ive never had before) along with dozens of tiny pimples and clogged pores but now my skin is also dry and my pores somehow look larger. My skin now feels extremely dehydrated and I've even developed more fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead. Basically I totally screwed up. Mentally this has been exhausting because for the past 6 months I've stuck to this diet and tried really hard to keep my skin calm coming of my medications (which was terrifying). And I had been really happy with my progress the diet had been working and my Regimen seemed to be working as well. So needless to say I'm pretty annoyed with my self for screwing it all up.
So....I'm starting again. 100% HCLF Raw Vegan diet and Exteme Caveman Regimen for atleast a month then maybe I'll start splashing my face with cold water once my acid mantle has been restored. I'm also going to take Vitamin D, Vitamin Code Raw Vitamins for Women, a probiotic, and possibly a wheatgrass or green powder supplement. I also start my day off with warm lemon water everyday and try to drink atleast 3 liters of water everyday. I do yoga everyday and light jogging or hiking a couple times a week. If anyone else has other suggestions for supplements please let me know!
I'm posting this for a couple reasons. First I want to hold myself accountable because it's so easy to cave in and start washing my face again. And I'm hoping that if I keep this post updated then it will hold me accountable to staying on track with my plan. I also want whoever this Regimen or diet interests to be able to follow my progress and to share their experiences as well. We are in this together after all! So please if anyone has had experiences that relate to this post please share! I'm going to try to update my progress every couple days and let you know how the Caveman Regimen is working and how my diet is going! Wish me luck
