Anyone Have Any Luck With Raw Honey?

I'm sure there's a lot of topics on this already, sorry.

A little info first. I'm 26 and have dealt with moderate acne since I was 13. I've tried pretty much every topical treatment. Dan's BP regimen actually worked pretty well until it recently stopped being effective.

I figured the problem was internal since I know my hormones are all messed up (I'm female btw). I really, really don't want to take drugs that just mask the problem. So I changed my diet 2 months ago. I stopped eating dairy, refined sugar and processed foods, and started eating more fruits and veggies, and drinking more water, etc. I exercise several times a week. I feel great but no change in my skin.

I was tired of slathering chemicals on my face so I wanted to try raw honey. I've been washing my face with honey and leaving it on as a mask for about a week now and my face looks absolutely horrible. I really don't think I'm allergic. I'm not breaking out anywhere I normally don't. I'm having flashbacks to when I tried the oil cleansing method where I developed the worse acne I've had in my entire life.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck with raw honey? And how long should I stick with it (pun intended :P) before I know it's not working for me?

You may feel you've done everything you can for diet but you probably haven't. The modern food supply is far more screwed up than you think. More fruit and veggies is great but have you eliminated ALL the crappy food? Have you eliminated all sources of vegetable oil? That means most restaurant food. Read ingredients. You will find canola and soybean oil everywhere and it should be eliminated. You should probably lose most if not all grains entirely.

I found raw honey made my acne look worse. It did seem to speed up the process of bringing anything to a head but egg yolk worked much better at reducing redness and swelling.

Hey thanks for the reply!

Yeah, trust me I know. Obsessive label reader right here, ha. I don't eat out at restaurants anymore, haven't done so in probably 10 years. I make most of my food and snacks so I know what's going in them. I try to avoid anything with vegetable oil in it, and only cook with extra virgin olive or coconut oil. I still eat whole grains though (pasta, and bread) but not in excess and always eat them with proteins (for blood sugar purposes). If I eliminated them, I definitely would have to find a substitute similar in calories since I'm already underweight and trying to gain a few pounds.
So far, honey seems to be doing that for me as well. I might stick with it a bit longer though. And I'll have to try the egg yolk thing.

I've tried raw honey, didn't do much for me. It slightly improved skin texture, but did not affect acne.

Hi i use manuka honey on my face. I put a little bit on all my sore pimples and leave it on all night. Yes i know that sounds really horrible and messy but i like the way it feels on my face, kind of soothing :) Honestly i don't think it makes THAT much of a difference to my skin. It soothes painful pimples and sort of helps them heal a bit i think so I'll keep using it. Everyones different though so its possible your skin could react negatively to it. or maybe its the type of honey. I don't use regular honey, only manuka honey. I don't think its raw though, not sure ??

I find diet helps my skin the most. I never eat the honey - sugar is the worst for my skin.

I love raw honey. I often use it as a cleanser when I have some at home. I like the fact its natural and can be used as an alternative cleanser for the face. Not only that but you can use the honey in other ways like as a mask mix the honey with aspirin (salicylic acid) let it sit on your face and it will help soothe the skin and exfoliate. The only thing is you must make sure the honey is "raw" and not processed so be careful you don't buy the wrong type of honey. Your local beekeepers should sell the honey and you'll be safe to know the honey has all the beneficial nutrients. Honey has been amazing to fight my seborrheic dermatitis!
