It can help or hurt. For one, it improves insulin sensitivity which improves hormone balance, inflammation & general health. But some kinds of exercise can boost androgens involved in oily skin& acne formation. Plus many people consume more carbs & supplements to fuel their workouts and/or body building.
That said, being sedentary is bad for you. Period. We are supposed to move around. That doesn't necessarily require 'working out.' also, working out a couple days a week doesn't make up for the days you spend being sedentary.
