Hi all, so I've had acne for several years, but it got pretty bad about 8-10 months ago.
The first pic is how it was around March. I began to go crazy trying to find a solution, went through a bunch of OTC topicals and cleansers, none of that worked, obviously. EVENTUALLY I became partial to natural/holistic solutions, mainly after reaching the blog "The Love Vitamin" and seeing Tracy's videos and stuff. I even tried the Caveman Regimen, which I dropped cause it really ended up being kind of silly with all the dead skin and whatnot. But the most important things - diet, excercise, stress - I've done really good on for the last 4/5 months. I eat veggies with every meal, eat brown rice and beans for my carbs (hardly ever white rice or bread), lots of fruit, cut out dairy, get decent exercise 5 days a week, and hardly ever eat anything with added sugar. I also almost exclusively drink water. My skin has improved A LOT as you can see with the following pictures.
OK so the reason for this post is that, despite the improvements, about two months ago I still was not all that satisfied with my skin, as I was still getting inflamed pimples and nodules. So I went to a derm and was prescribed adapalene/differin. Been on that for two months now. The inflamed pimples/nodules are all but gone, I might get one small one every week or two, but that's it. My problem now is extreme oiliness and lots of whiteheads/comedones as you can see form the pictures. I had somewhat oily skin before, but now its just ridiculous. Also, I didn't used to have many whiteheads/comedones, just lots of inflamed pimples and nodules. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad they're gone. But I'm wondering if these were already on their way out and had more to do with my diet/lifestyle changes than with the Differin. And I'm wondering if Differin is actually causing the whiteheads. I'm pretty sure it's causing the oiliness cause it never used to be this bad.
So do you all think I should go off Differin? Do you think my inflamed pimples could come back? Would going off differin maybe help reduce the whiteheads? Thank you!!!
Wow, your skin looks great!
There are multiple viable options for problem oily skin...
Here's a couple of links to posts I read today about using Vitamin A supplements to help with oil control...might be worth trying:
Hemp seed oil can also help with excess oil production and whiteheads...I'm trying it now per a recommendation I got from a friend on here...just got it actually...but haven't tried applying topically yet, just taking orally so far. I've had oily skin for years. Here's a link with more info on hemp seed oil.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Definitely! I'll keep you posted...so far although could just be imagination lol my skin actually seems less oily today! Been taking hemp seed oil orally for about 4 days so far...the site also recommends washing with it (or what some people on here call the Oil Cleansing Method) but too scared to try! lol Right now besides taking hemp seed oil, my skin regimen is just washing with warm water and using moisturizer, plus washing with a gentle cleanser about once a week...I don't have any active acne...I have combination oily/dry skin which can be very tricky! lol
