Diet Not Working For Me, Must Be Hormonal

I've tried changing my diet for the past month, I've been on a week juice fast, and I've recently done both a parasite cleanse and a liver cleanse. I have seen no results at all, my acne is still sevre and it is all over my face. Now I'm not saying that this diet thing does not cure acne for nobody, because it does, the proof is there. It just didn't work for me. I've come to accept my acne is homronal and it will go away eventually by itself, I've had acne now since I was 14 (I'm a male) and I am 19. My mother also had acne and her went away when she reached her early 20's. I've done a lot to try and cure my acne, yet seen no results so far (stopped washing my face.. apple cider vinegar, all the anti-biotics etc. I think it's time to give up my fight. I hope I don't discourage anybody from trying these things. I'm just letting you know my situation.

Thanks for the help and support some of you guys provided. :)

only a week ? you need to be on it for longer then that lol .... try couple of months

even if it is hormonal , thats where diet affects it aswell so idk what youre talking about ? but if you wanna wait it out go ahead , that plan almost never works out by experience

I was told to stay away from juice... One kind of diet isn't the catch-all that fixes everything...

Only some foods affect hormones. Those foods I eliminated yet still no change.

All my diet consisted of for a whole month was fish and vegatables, occasionally brown rice and fruit. Now from my understanding, if diet did have an affect on my acne, it would of changed. But it did not...

@leadingforce

A couple of months on juice fasting? That's not healthy bro..

It takes over a month for acne to heal, and liver flushes cause more acne to surface in the detox, so still having acne isn't a sign anything is working or not

This is how I cured my acne with diet:

1) Eat lots of leafy greens (spinach, kale, chard...the good stuff) at least five times a week. I try to eat an entire 5 ounce container each day, but often only finish about 3/4 of it. See item 2 below on why to not eat salad dressing.

2) Do not ever, ever eat anything with xanthan gum in it...which is a lot of food. I've even found xanthan gum in lotions and acne soaps. Xanthan gum is in every salad dressing I have ever found in stores. Sometimes you can make your own salad dressing with ingredients void of xanthan gum.

3) Do not eat anything with high fructose corn syrup.

4) Try not to eat anything with corn syrup in it more than once a month.

If I follow those four rules, I will not get acne. Humans are all basically the same, but we each have our own unique traits. What works for me might not work for you, but be persistent (i.e. don't quit after a week) and hopefully you'll be able to fix your acne with diet.

I've read some people have acne correlated to a high glycemic diet...that's not true for me.

Some people get acne after consuming dairy...not me.

Another resource...find out who wrote the pale diet book. That person also wrote a book on the relationships between diet and acne. I read the introductory to that book, which helped me to discover my four rules.

It can take over a month, especially at your age I think. And you could be eating something you have an intolerance to. I get severe cystic acne from a family of fruits. One that the masses have long considered to be synonymous with health.

No one can tell you how many months. But I think teen/growth stages aren't going to stabilize over night.

You have come accept your acne is Hormonal without no scientific evidence to support your statement?

Interesting.

You done a diet for one month. Lets assume for one moment your acne is hormonal and lets assume you have imbalance of some kind. You're not going to sort it one month with a juice diet. For the record juice diets is the biggest pile of dung on the market.

I would suggest going to a derm, get assessed, and go from there, It takes time to get any skin complaint under control, you're not going to solve it one month.

I've battling acne for 16 years and only in the last few years got a place where i can control it, not cure it.

Yeah of course buddy.

Like most here, i have tried most things out there.

Exclusion diets, every med short of accutane.

The only med that ever worked for me is Benzyol peroxide, that said it took a year to get clear using it and ongoing treatment since then. One thing i will about, long game.

My acne got a lot better and much more controllable when i stopped restricting foods. Don't get me wrong, 90% of my diet is single ingredient nutrient dense foods, but if i fancy some chocolate i will go eat some. I have no evidence that this is directly related to my acne getting better. May be i am just growing out of it now? Restricting foods just made me miserable and my acne got worse. May be in my journey to be a nutrition coach my understanding of nutrient dense foods has just got better and i have taken a more balanced approach to what i eat, rather than just going extreme and only eating foods with the letter C in them lol

One thing is for sure, i only treat my face every 3 or 4 months now when i feel rather than see spot coming on. Sound silly but i can feel when my face is about to have melt down. Treat my face for about 2 weeks and only get one or two spots pop up after that.

The really sad thing here, there is no one glove fits all. Everyone has a different trigger. I am not going to say nutrition has had a definite impact but nor would i rule it out.

No one can answer that. You need to stop expecting anyone to be able to tell you when exactly anything to do with your body/health will happen.

Especially these days with all the unnatural lifestyles, diets and xenoestrogens filling the environment so that girls enter puberty at 9 and even younger.

The problem is that there is no cure all approach to acne. But that doesn't mean you can't do anything about it; you just have to find the right treatment for you. Your acne could have nothing to do with food sensitivities. It could be a vitamin D deficiency. It could be fungal folliculitis. It could be a product you use or your shampoo. Very rarely can nothing be done, even if that means you taking accutane.

Been on accutane, it was working for me but I stopped after a month after hearing all the horror stories. It's posion, not worth solving a problem with even more problems in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies everybody, I won't go back to my derm. She doesn't have a clue, she's basically just reading out of a textbook, she even said herself she doesn't suffer from acne.

There isn't a cure all approach to much else either.

Hey everybody just an update. After going back to my old diet my acne started to get worse. I'm starting to see a link and i've gone back to eating healthy. One thing I have not tried yet is supplements. I don't know where to start though, can somebody direct me to some good supplements?
