I typically see a lot of "avoid all alcohol" statements in these threads. Here are some studies that state why having that glass of wine with dinner might actually be good for you.

Favorite quote:

"...this study finds that compared with nondrinkers, those who consume a moderate amount of alcohol have lower all-cause and CHD mortality."

Yes a little alcohol is good for you. Key word there is little. Very little. The alcohol in water kefir is a good way to get it. Wine or cognac soaked raisins are good. Since I prefer sweet wines and whites that are good with spicy food, what I do is mix a little wine with my unsweetened hibiscus tea and call it sangria. I think its delicious.

I drink beer regularly and have not had any problems with my acne stemming from it. Beer is high in dietary silicon which is good for bone mineral density and skin healing. I drink a locally brewed beer that doesn't have any weird additives. I also drink wine.

In my experience after a night of drinking I wake up with several pimples the next day. I also drink sugar filled cocktails so that's probably it. Although I agree with dscully. Beer has never caused me to breakout.

I drink beer regularly and it's never caused any breakouts. Like dscully, I drink local brewed. Wine has never broken me out, either, and neither has whiskey. If I ever break out from alcohol, it's after something sugary like a pina coloda.
