Hey guys this will be my first post on this forums , I am excited to regularly use this forums since everyone here seems very nice and helpful!
Well I have a question, I wanted to know how bad my acne is from your eyes? From a scale to 1-10 how bad is my acne? Is my acne mild or moderate? Why the freak do I have such dark red scars on my cheeks when I NEVER pop pimples ( well maybe 5x each year).
I decided the other day to really not pay too much mind to my acne, and think that it will eventually go away/fade away as the months go by. I have had acne for 1-2 years. My first year was mostly my forhead, bearly any on my cheeks. Now this year I have a little not too much on my Forehead and alot on my cheeks. I also used to have TERRIBLE back acne (1 or 2 years ago) before my face acne, but now my back bearly gets acne, just a couple of old scars. Does this mean my face acne will magically Dissappear?
I started using coconut oil as a moisturizer for thr past 2 weeks or 3 weeks I cant tell if that made a difference. I also started washing my face at least 2x a day, Im going to keep doing it 2x a day from now on no more than twice. I started drinking alot of water, for the past 2 weeks. I also, starting this week, am gonna eat one salad everyday and drink 2-3 cups of green tea everyday. Hopefully all this can ATLEAST control my acne.
Also, I am the lightest person in my family, I am from bangladesh and have 3 brothers 2 of which have very dark skin tone, and the other one is tanish. I am the only brother who has acne .

Seems moderate, but it depends how bad your back acne is, too.
Dark marks generally take a long time to heal. For darker, more pigmented skin such as yours the "dark spots" may simply be excess melanin. If it's melanin, then you'd have to use sunscreen and "bleaching" creams.
Are you using any lotions with anti-acne ingredients such as salicylic acid?
Thank you so much for your reply, and no I dont use any anti-acne lotions at all. The only thing I use to moistureize my skin is coconut oil. I started this week to use St. Ives Apricot scrub for blemish and blackheads. Im going to be using this 2-3x a week. I also use my proactive (which I dont use no more) refinfing mask overnight for new/red pimples I get to reduce the size. I also have the small bottle of the green tea moisturizer but I do not use it. Do you think I should buy something else for a moistureizer.

Scrubs are not really effective since they're washed off.
The green tea moisturizer doesn't really have acne-fighting actives.
You have a few options: leave-on 2% salicylic acid moisturizers, 2.5%-5% benzoyl peroxide, 10% glycolic acid, sulfur, or low-concentration retinol or retinaldehyde.
Has your acne changed since you began using coconut oil? It clogs many people's pores.
And topical green tea does have acne fighting ability. It's anti inflammatory & inhibits DHT. Although I would recommend brewing it yourself & using like a toner. And not buying any commercial creams, scrubs, etc.

I should've said green tea doesn't have any proven effects in acne. Green tea and EGCG are currently being studied.
Most products that have green tea in them are in very tiny amounts, so they won't do much, if at all.
The problem with homemade toners is that they don't have any penetration enhancers like propelyne glycol, or are preserved well and have a proper pH.

I think those a conedomes??? Idk if I should use a papaya soap???? Idk if I should stop using that st. ives apricot scrub since Its "commercial"
Hey guys I will post some more pictures, I have been drinking around 3 cups of green tea and alot of water lately, and I don't have as much comedones(or w.e. u call it). I see a visible change in my acne. But the scars and my blackheads sadly are the same. I have some new black heads around my chin/jawline maybe because of my dirty winter jacket hoodie. Do u guys think I should stop using St.Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish Control? For blackheads and pores

Scrubs aren't really effective for acne. I'd focus more on a leave-on lotion with salicylic acid.

Neutrogena's is good, and so is Paula's Choice. I prefer Neutrogena, though.
I would say not very. I'd put you in the mild-moderate range, and even then moderate is pushing it. Can't I say I have much experience with your type of acne though. I'm pale as hell, so all my pimples are red and inflamed-looking. When I had acne on my cheeks I would've killed for your skin.
I agree with the notion you should stay away from scrubs. I'm lazy and I buy otc creams and cleansers, but I look for the gentlest stuff I can find, and hope my antibiotics can handle the rest, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Maybe try a gentle cleanser, I use Olay Gentle Foaming Face Wash (which, itself, doesn't have anti-acne ingredients in it, but will clean your pores without over-drying), and some sort of face lotion (not body lotion, I've made that mistake before) with salicylic acid or aloe in it, if you can find them.
You seem to have mainly whiteheads or comedones, which I never get, so take my advice with a grain of salt or two. I am prone to the really red types of acne. For those, I either spot treat with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide cream (Neutrogena On-The-Spot, mainly for pustules) or use Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick for the more angry-looking cysts/nodules. It looks to me like you're not dealing with cysts, so your skin might not like the stronger stuff I use. I'll occasionally use Epiduo or .3% Differin, but those are prescrip-only, and don't do much for me anymore.
I used the St. Ives scrubs for a while, and the only one that was okay was the Fresh Skin CLEANSER (white cream will little pink/orange beads in it), but I don't use it anymore because scrubs are abrasive and BAD. Definitely don't use the blemish control scrub. It smells nice and feels like its working, but it's sand-papery and causes more problems than it fixes.
