Recovering From Antibiotic Usage?

Unfortunately my lazy doctors had me on a few courses of antibiotics longer than I should have been over the years:

3 months - Zithromax

6 months - Doxycycline

6 months - Bactrim

While I'd love to sue them for incompetency as the antibiotics did nothing but damage my body (didn't even help my acne), I understand that is a losing battle shifty.gif

Either way, at this point I am just trying to help my body recover from the heavy antibiotics and restore my gut. Unfortunately I have noticed that I get sick more, my acne became more severe, and my overall energy levels dropped after the antibiotic courses. I feel as though it overall weakened my immune system and my body has trouble fighting off infections now. (I've had 3 staph infections in the past year)

A few weeks ago, I started a whole foods diet and cut down heavily on dairy/sugar. I am eating a lot of grass fed butter, EVOO, organic coconut oil, etc. I have been reading about probiotics but many sources say when the gut is damaged from antibiotics, it will never be the same and the damage is done.

Any advice?

Try acidophilus first, not multi-strand probiotics. If you break out with only acidophilus (uncommon), then you might have leaky gut or candida issues. If you do decide to try probiotics, keep it in the millions at first. Don't go straight for the billion+ because that might cause a reaction/ purge.

Vitamin C also helps boost the immune system after prolonged usage of antibiotics and, of course, a healthy diet. Limiting yeast can't hurt either, especially if you suspect candida overgrowth.
