Hi,
I plan on quitting BC in the coming weeks, and am wondering what dietary changes or supplements I might introduce to try and minimize the possible side effects! My diet is already pretty clean, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (very very little dairy and no red meats). And I'm currently taking FCLO!
Any supplements, teas, or foods that I can safely introduce to my diet that would HELP, rather than aggravate my body as it adjusts to coming off BC?
When you come off the bcp, your body won't freak out right away, so you may not even need those supplements right now. Maybe try to introduce them a month after coming off the bcp, or when you start to notice hormonal changes (eg. changes in weight, period, skin). Your diet is already healthy, so that's the most important thing. I would advice you to gradually come off the bcp....try taking it once every 2 days, then once every 3, then cut the pill in half, etc until you completely come off it. This will help your body adjust to the change more gradually, rather than abruptly stopping it.

Ah I see! Thank you! Are you sure I shouldn't start the Calcium D Glucarate? I know these aren't introducing hormones, but balancing them out so I'm thinking of it as a preventative measure. What do you think?
I never tried calcium for balance so I don't know. Once you come off the bcp, your hormones won't be out of whack anyway....it will probably take some time until they become imbalanced again. If you are deficient in vitamin D, that might be a more useful supplement to take than calcium. It depends on what your body needs....you may not even need any supplements at this point, just a healthy diet.

Got it! Thank you.
