Hello to all that will read. I wont go down the whole ive had acne since i was 13... basically,im male, im 22 and tried it all. 2 courses of accutane which i would not recommend, side effects still hitting me. vitamins, washes, peels, ive done it all!
My break through. My acne seemed to calm down, you would have thought being 22, but it was still persistent, still sucking my pride. Anyway, i decided to go see a private derm in Manchester uk, 1 trip there got me onto roaccutane again, way too easy! after the side effects started getting me after 5 days i had second thoughts and decided to look elsewhere. I stumbled on allergies and acne, that article alone was my break through.
I always thought it was strange when id get some food before work, have a sandwich or some pasta, instead of being full of energy after id be sluggish and tired for hours and hours which affected my work, i was so used to this that i didnt think anything of it until i stumbled on the allergies and acne. I decided to get an allergy test off the internet and with a therapist just to double check. Little did i know that i am wheat intolerant! this was my turning point.
at that moment my lifestyle remained exactly the same but i dropped wheat from my diet, since then i am 100% honest, i havent had a since spot! I wouldnt sign up, write all of this if it wasnt true. i looked for answers my whole life, spent thousands on trying to find out and a 45 allergy test finally gave me my answer. I know this might not be the answer to everyones acne, but if youve tried it all like me, you have a decent diet, wash properly, out the hormonal acne age, then get a test done! i did and it changed my life.
Id be happy to answer anyones questions on this, i hope it helps, even if i help 1 person, thats one less person staring in the mirror, not wanting to go out because you feel too embarrassed.
Dont give up! keep trying, you will succeed! peace and love
ur post beautifully written.i must say that in the beginning!
& congratulations on knowing what caused your acne and how to get rid of it.
=)
u could add ur story to the success compilation thread.
secondly, what i wanna know is how long after u quit wheat completely did u start seeing changes?
am not sure if this one's a silly question.
but i've been checking for a gluten-free diet for about 18days or so.( i have white rice twice a day instead).
i dont see any changes infact i had a acne/zit or big size whitehead after i started this routine.
(i was sorta clear of any new active zit for more than a month before that..even before 'that time of the month')
so,i have started to think that i dont have no effect of gluten/wheat after all.
i am plain curious.
*(Sorry about the sudden Edit on this post, my computer was freaking out for a second.)
So wheat/gluten was your trigger and/or your allergy? How long did you avoid it before you started healing up? And what do you mean by 'decent diet'? Care to elaborate?
I just took a skin allergy test and it concluded that had no food allergies to anything ... not that I'm disappointed.
Aanabill Thank you, we all have something in common here so no reason we can relate. I think I can answer everyones questions in a nutshell from my experience.
Aanabill, Da funny one, sleptember. After getting my Allergy/intolerance test, finding i was allergic to wheat, I instantly dropped wheat, i was actually eating a sandwich at the time so you could imagine how disappointed i was when i found out. At that moment i saw immediate improvement, not just in my acne. I was so used to being tired and bloated all the time i thought that was just me, but it wasn't, after eating pasta youre supposed to be full of energy right? not me, it sucked my energy levels to where i would be walking and falling asleep, no joke! so this is where i realised there was something my body didnt like.
After cutting out wheat, my body was full of energy and i was feeling like a spring chicken! so immediately i saw the affects. my acne however, it took a few days for current active acne to start slowly going red and inflamed to almost nothing, 2 weeks down the line i was rid of all, then i kept my eyes on it for a month and not a single spot! And ive even starting going back to the gym, im amazed.
Aanabill, thats just my story, 18 days in you might not be seeing any improvement, but gluten or wheat might not be your trigger, it could be your orange juice in the morning, it could be the milk going into your tea/coffee. Get an allergy test, see what your body doesnt like, who knows it could open a door to other health issues you didnt know about! You can even buy the test online which requires no effort and its cheap. I did mine with a woman called Hebe who runs a hair test at [Removed] Ps i dont work for her, i owe my happiness to this woman!
Da funny one, it might be disappointing and good at the same time to find you dont have any food intolerances, did your test include vitamins and minerals deficiency? if not check that route out if youre not having any luck elsewhere!
Sleptember. Thank you! I hope I've answered your questions in the first part. if not mail me!
I know how acne can crumble the best of us, but there is always an answer. keep up the good work people, we can help each other!
congratulations once again.
and thank you for sharing your story with us.
i mean to continue having a gluten free diet for about a month or so.after which i will restart having my usual whole wheat flat breads(which are home made) and check if i have any reaction.
(i must add here that i was clear for about 1.5 mnths even before i started my gluten-free diet)
the test u mentioned, although i've bookmarked the link but i dont think its plausible at the moment for personal reasons.
thank u once again.
good luck mate!
p.s when i say 'clear' i mean i dint get big active acne/zit but i did get tiny whiteheads and a few bumps here and there.
