I have pretty mild acne but occasionally I get bad flare-ups. Has anyone had any success tracking there acne to see what products work best or what causes their flare-ups? I thinking about starting to track my skin condition to hopefully predict when my skin is going to be bad so I can start using stronger products to prevent the flare-up.

I would track

  • # of pimples
  • Stress
  • Sleep
  • If skin was oily or dry
  • Period
  • Products Used

Has anone done anything similar to this before? Any recommendation on how I should go about tracking?

Thanks!

Yes I have used tracking to get a feel for the things that make me flare up. I think its a great way to get to know your skin! I have a good memory so I never really had to keep it in writing, but if you want to draw patterns and really illustrate what is going on it wouldn't hurt to keep it in a log of some sort.

The three main things I keep track of are sleep, water intake and diet. Stress, and face products don't really contribute to my breakouts. Just the three mentioned. But the great thing about getting to know your skin is finding stuff like this out idea.gif

Since it is kinda a trial and error kind of a thing it can be a long process; but I think its well worth it!

If you have any questions about some particular things just shoot, other than that good luck!

I did a log for a few weeks a while back where I tracked what I was eating, what products I was using, when I washed my face, and when I showered. And of course observations on acne status. I just used microsoft word, made each page = 1 day, 1 entry per meal. It was kind of useful, learned some good stuff.

idk if you'd want to use harsher products though. In fact many people have tried and have had success with the no-wash method
