Okay, today will be my first day of my hopefully, acne free skin diet :) I figured that by starting a diet on here everyday, once a day, it will help me stick to it. So, support is more than welcome guys :) okay here is a little but about myself so you can understand my struggles a little but better... I am 22 years old and finishing up my last year of college (thank The Lord) I have been clear my entire life, but that all changed when I turned 21. Hormonal, stress?? Idk. I have tried several treatments so far-- topicals and oral meds, and recently got switched from ziana gel( which completely made my acne worsen by 100x) to epiduo gel and doxycycline once daily. I am a bit if a workout freak and am now deciding to make a life change to my diet, both for health reasons and acne reasons. This is my plan plain and simple--> absolutely no processed sugar ( I am allowing myself some fruits containing sugar such as bananas, apples and berries) no grain (none WHATSOEVER) and finally no dairy. I am basically starting the paleo diet. Some if my major concerns are going to be my love for iced coffee (skim milk, Splenda and caramel) as well as my addiction to sweets(not an excessive amount, but def not good) so, it's 12:33 am now, but I will update every night at the end if each day to report my success and changes. If you's want me to post a picture.. I will (petrified to do do) but I wanna be as real, honest and inspirational as I possibly can on here for you guys! So, here goes day one.. Oh and obviously ONLY water and a lot if it!!!

Also, I will be sure to spell check my posts before posting them for now on! Haha college graduate clearly...

I like your idea to record your foods you eat here! I went pretty much on a paleo diet myself and cured my acne (with supplementation).

One tip I recommend is to start drinking protein powders. Whey protein is the best, but if you're one of the few that can't tolerate whey, their are alternatives such as hemp, or pea protein. Protein will greatly reduce any sugar/carb cravings you have. I drink a protein smoothie shake with cococut oil and flaxseed oil (you could also add some berries or something).

Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much for your quick response! And yes, I will try to be as detailed as possible with recording my food intake. If you don't mind me asking, how quick did you see improvements? And what type of acne did you have prior to the diet?

I had moderate-severe cystic acne primarily my face, some on my chest. I saw improvements miraculously fast actually - within a month. But it could take longer for other people. Some people could be more damaged than others and take a longer time to heal the gut, organs, etc. Luckily for me, I was never on that many prescriptions. I was on antibiotics for a couple weeks but just stopped taking it because I didn't like the side effects. People who've been on antibiotics/drugs or a crappy diet for a long time will have a longer time to heal the body.

Your food log is great idea because it will help you to determine what foods you can or can not tolerate. Sometimes what we think is healthy, could actually be a problem for our unique bodies.

Looking forward to your updates... cheers!

Good thoughts, and again thanks for your input! And wow a month is very quick that's awesome for you! Hopefully mine is relatively fast too!

I started a paleo type diet 2 weeks ago! I just posted a thread asking how long it took to see results as I am struggling to stick with this change of diet, I just needed to hear some sucess stories as motivation. There are a lot of sucess stories on here from what I can see.

Anyway only thing I haven't cut yet is the dairy but looks like I need to cut that as well. I don't drink any milk I only have a bit of feta in my salad and some greek yoghurt a couple of times a week.

I am 23 so would be good to have someone taking the same road as me thats a similar age, we can check in with each other ??

Most definitely! I wanna report about my first day yesterday, which was a 95% success!! I ate egg whites for breakfast, along with a banana shake (banana, ice, soy milk and some spinach blended) then I went to work and brought with me baby carrots, an apple and a bag of assorted nuts (walnuts, almonds and sunflower seeds) then I worked out after work, went home and ate dinner (spinach leaves, onions, turkey, hot peppers and hot sauce) oh and mind you I drank at least 4 bottles of water thus far in my day. Then... Here comes my cheat :/ I had a spoonful of peanut butter, as well as mentos mints(high in sugar) at the movies. Then I'd say another almost 2 bottles of water. Hopefully today I don't cheat at all! Dairy and bread iis not a problem with me, it's the sugar basically! But ya you can journal your days on here if ya wanna join me!!
