I have very dry skin and some acne, I'm changing my lifestyle to fix the acne, but I'm not sure if any of my health changes will fix the dry skin? I know my skin is dry from using so many external products over the years, and I'm wondering if since the cause of my dry skin was external that means the solution would also be external, rather than internal.
Should I continue washing my face and using aloe vera and emu oil on it, and hope that the internal changes help heal it? Or should I discontinue the external products and and let my skin balance itself out?
With my experience with dry skin, water water water. Drink it. Seriously you should be takin a piss every hour. Also, stop washing your face twice a day. I wash my face after work (mid day) in the shower with warm water, and that's it. I'll wash my face with a black soap cleanser once a week , to exfoliate. I apply a mixture of jojoba oil and evening primrose oil every night, and I also take evening primrose oil internally. When my skin does get dry, I notice that I'm not drinking enough water. Also, check your diet. Make sure your eating enough veggies (stick to the green leafy ones) and anything red. (Tomatoes, beets, peppers, etc). After doing all this, my skin is almost back to normal. I sometimes get a dry patch here or there on my cheeks, but it usually goes away with the jojoba oil and evening primrose oil.

Yea I'm definitely gonna drink a ton of water, and I started addressing my diet these past couple of weeks. But I can't help but feel that my external products aren't helping my dry skin. I know emu oil and aloe vera are moisturizers, but I feel like using them is stopping my skin from re-balancing and creating it's own natural moisture and oils again.
