Yes, I've been on it for a week about 2grams a day with a b5 complex as well. My skin is oily (I keep reading about people with dry skin, they don't know how good they've got it) so I should see when it starts working.

dry skin and acne is bad because you get left with bad hyper pigmentation marks :(

Good for you! Did you see any improvement beside oil reduction, perhaps less acnes?

This is what I like to hear, a lower dosage that helps with the oiliness.

Yeah well i would say blotchyness dyed down a lot and just general condition went up. also my energy levels felt better. the only bad thing i experienced whilst doing it was the initial break out, but then again that could have been from anything!

i decided to stop because i didnt want to suffer hair loss in any shape or form.

but yeh as for oilyness i used to go home and be able to wipe a tissue across my forehead and you would just see the grease come off lol. but after 4 weeks of b5, vit a, d it seemed to stop it :)

Vitamin B5 is very essential for metabolism and good health. But excessive vitamin B5 may cause fatigue.

Hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but I'm really bad about taking pills...would I be able to open up the capsules and pour it straight into my mouth or into water?

Why don't you try the B5 powder form then? Just scoop it into whatever you prefer and drink it.

I decided to stop taking megadoses (I can only grab hold of 250g tablets) because it proved to be expensive. I'm taking a couple instead of like 20 a day. I'm sure it'll help a bit with metabolism, oil and general health. Good luck for everyone else! Mini dosages for me.

for those taking 2 grams a day and do not notice a difference. try taking a bit more at least 5g depending on how your acne is

I just ordered B5 supplents along with some other vitamins. This is what I'll be taking for a 3-month try. Ordered from [Removed] and cost me $220 (shipping included) for a 3-month supply. Very good site. Ordered yesterday and today it's shipped to Europe. Got a lot of free stuff to, including the double amount of multivitamins, a total of 960 caps, plus 250 caps of D-3 free. The B5's are branded with Now Foods (a well known brand I've heard) and they were 50% off, only $10,83 a bottle of 250 500mg. I just have to wait a couple of weeks for them to arrive.

This is my vitamin regimen:

B5 10,000 mg

B-Kompeks Twice a day

Biotin 5000 mcg

Multivitamin Once a day

Vitamin E 400 IU

Vitamin D-3 2000 IU

Zinc 50mg

Cod Liver Oil 3g

I have been using Dans cleanser, BP and moisturizer for almost 2 years, but I have been on and several times. My question is whether I should keep doing BP or quit when I start taking the vitamins. I tought maybe it's best to let the vitamins do the job without any strong face treatment. I've read somewhere that Dans AHA+ mixed with some of his Jojoba oil would be a good combination. What do you guys think about only using cleanser and this mix to avoid dry, flaky skin?

Let me know what other people on B5 do to treat their face in morning and night.

Thanks!

Yo B5 junkies :). Check into the cysteine, CoQ10 and B5 connection. Essentially lowers the needed dose of B5 and is still, if not more effective. Good for the wallet and less pills to chug.

And then this 1>> http://hubpages.com/hub/Try-The-New-Acne-C...ented-For-Years

Tell me what you guys think. Peace

I just read through that quickly, are they trying to sell you a product? Or just saying you can cysteine with a pantothenic acid supplement allowing you to only need to take 1.5g of pantothenic acid?

I think this might be a craze phenomenon. Then again I didn't megadose to see results. I couldn't find any 500mg pills in store at the time and wasted my money on 250mg's.

No, AussieSmile is not trying to sell a product. If you take glutamic acid and+NAC instead of megadosing on b5, you can take one tablet and get the same effects!

Interesting.

We just need to see it in action.

If I have time and money I'll trial it some time.

Read the links and pm him your thoughts.

Nah the guy who wrote that is a pharmacist specializing in vitamin cures for conditions, one such being acne. The consensus is that when supplementing around 0.5-1 gram of cysteine, it lowers the needed B5 dosage by 90%.

So the pattern would be something like this:

250mg cysteine + 0.5-1 gram B5...3x daily

He recommends other supplements as well but the focus is on raising coenzyme A levels to properly sythesise hormones and fats. But yeah, give it a read, i found it interesting. :)

The other option is pantethine where 900mg is equivalent to 8grams of B5. Pantethine is the active form of B5. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/pantothen...ant-t21524.html

Ok, thanks. That seems much better than taking 20 b5 tablets everyday.

I'm just wondering...

If you took the cysteine while still taking 10g of b5, would it be like a mega-megadose?

If it is then you could totally speed up results... Maybe...

Maybe but i wouldn't recommend it. 10 grams of B5 is dangerous enough. Just see how you are in 2-3 months with vilantae G-Town. :)

Dude. If you're taking cysteine just stick with 1gram of b5. Or a couple of grams. 10grams is overload. I'll check into cysteine and b5 in a month after I finish my supplements and see if it helps. Keep use posted aussie and everyone else.

NAC is cysteine on speed.

Pathenine is b5 on speed.

These two together = a gay disco.

i'd like to know if there are any alternatives to b5? i.e. does the same but with less side effects. I seem to get irritated skin in the tzone area.

Hi guys, just joined to say I started the B5 routine about 1 month ago and I'm definitely seeing results. Visibly smaller pores, very little oil on my face compared to before. I'm taking between 5 and 7 grams a day, also taking a B5 complex, one or two fish oil and 50mg zinc at night.

Started taking them all at the same time and the results are looking good, only had a few very tiny whiteheads pop up in the whole last week. I have two big cysts on my forehead since around the time I started and they're finally phasing out, nearly gone and no sign of them flaring up again for the moment. I'm happy with it and looking forward to the next month or two when hopefully I'll be clear.

Little background - I'm 23, been suffering with acne since the age of 15, some years really bad, some years not so bad. The prescriptions never really worked, some helped for a while but lost effect. Never tried accutane and don't really want to, but have been on the verge and was about to at one stage but it was just too much effort and red tape to obtain. I'm glad I didn't and hopefully this B5 stuff will have me clear soon! I also wash my face twice a day with dermologica special cleansing gel, and use their toner also in the mornings before I moisturize.

Here's to hoping!

FFirst off i dont know why people are taking like 10-20 pills a day. youre not supposed to do that. just do what the instrucctions say. if you buy b5 in 500mg then that should be enough for one day. i have acne too, and have been taking only one pill a day with zinc, and vitamins E and C of coarse not all at the same time. :)

I ususally take b5 (500mg) with a zinc(30mg) then later on the day i take one vitamin c(1000mg) with a vitamin e (200IU) thats helped alot with my acne. i dont know why people feel theyre going to cure acne with taking 10-20 pills a day. of coarse youe oing to get side efects,

just saying.

Hey Winters, did you get any IB????

Hey Shirley. Yeah I got an IB, few bigish red cyst like ones on side of my forehead (haven't broken out there in a few years). The marks are still there but they're fading fast now. I actually had a bit of a breakout this weekend around my mouth but I've had a super stressful week and I'm still recovering from a hangover :P They don't feel bad or sore though and they're looking like they'll subside in a few days.

I haven't had any side effects from taking the B5 at all. I am thinking about lowering the dosage a bit though, just to be on the safe side, but I'll do that after the 2nd or 3rd month is over. Im also thinking of going on the pure panthenol, which apparently is absorbed better than pantothenic acid and you only need to take 1 or 2 a day.

The reason I like taking multiple a day is that it ensures there's almost a constant presence of the B5 in your body throughout the day as opposed to a megadose in the morning and evening (when your body probably expels 80% of it anyway).

I work a desk job so I just usually pop one or two every couple of hours if I remember. But I know that can be a pain/hard to do for a lot of people. My plan is to do this for the first few months and see how I get on, then lower the intake.
