accept you have acne, treat it, and be prepared for the long haul. Yes, in most people it will go away, but just have it in the back of your mind that it will stick with you.
Knowing this, live life! Don't wait for the acne to clear. Clear it yourself with a regimen, then do what you want to do. Date. Go out. Take pictures. Have fun.
What I regret is waiting and not living life. That is my message to all of you. You are young once, acne or not. Once you hit your 30s, you will never be young again...EVER. Even if you have completely clear skin.
I would say, mostly 20s is young. After that, people just settle into their adult lives.
The point is, I was waiting for my acne to clear and that's the mistake I made. It's sort of like waiting to make money before you date, or something like that. Why not date without money? And what if you never make money?
See the thing about acne, it hits when you are young. That's what's insidious about it. It's the opposite of so many other conditions. But you can't let it stop you from doing the things you are supposed to be doing while you are young. There simply isn't a magical time period post acne. If you get old and your skin clears, well, now you are old. If you get old and still have acne, well, now you are old and have acne.
There are two aspects to youth. One is an ill defined age that seems to vary between individuals and cultures. The other is more a state of mind that usually includes optimism, enthusiasm, a willingness to seek out new people and experiences etc. Unfortunately in a lot of cases acne robs you of that state of mind, so you never really get to have that youthful time in your life. I tried to force myself to do the things I was supposed to be doing when I was young, but if Im honest I didnt enjoy a second of it. Acne made me old before my time.
You should be easier on yourself. Isn't enrique iglesias 42 and just had twins? He looks better than most 20 year olds. He looks better than me and I'm 29. Am I an old fart?
Yeah so you can't be 24 again but so what. Most 24 year olds have no money and live average lives. It's not like if you didn't have acne you would have been living some teen dream that's portrayed on the OC or something.
