Last straw. Can thinking about acne cause them?

I am so tired, exhausted, discouraged, worn out, controlled by my acne. They are by no means horrible but they're PERSISTENT and the red spots left afterwards aren't fading (after 2 years). I am in a deadspot woth my life, I don't leave the house, my routine is strict, I do EVERYTHING right in terms of acne fighting, I'm vegan (althoufh my food variety is pretty narrow, I live off of several certain foods and not much veggies), I'm ocd with sanitizing etc etc etc. but my acne is ruining my life!! It's still occuring for no godforsaken reason! And obviously I keep thinking about them, waiting and waiting and waiting for clear skin, freaking out over every new one. Does thinking about acne cause them? I'm not stressed per say, but I just think and worry about the next breakout, trying to prevent it. I take progress pictures every other day. I constantly read about acne in every field possible. So can thinking/paying attention to them be the cause? Because if not I seriously cannot seem to figure out the reason, neither can my derms, guess I'll just hang myself or somethin

Edit: I try not to stress. But sometimes it just builds up and I yell at everything, like today. It's just so discouraging after I had about a month or two of skin completely resting (still those bright red scars but no new active acne) and they start happening again for no fucking reason. I also noticed that I get a new acne EVERY TIME after I'm out, meeting a friend or generally out of the house for a few hours. Wtffffff

I know exactly how you feel. I don't have acne anymore but when I did I was also extremely frustrated, it's hard, I know. I absolutely think how we feel and think influences our lives and health. I think you should check out this ted-talk by MD. Lissa Rankin. I think you'll like it and maybe it will give you some answers. All the best.

Maybe. When you think about acne it is by no means a pleasant thought. Rather it stresses you out. More stress can cause acne. Try and relax and do not fret so much about everything. Also your diet and lifestyle seems really strict right now.

Yes, thinking about your acne ABSOLUTELY affects your stress levels whether you think it does or not. Everything I'm about to say comes from personal experience and I've had a long journey clearing my skin. Acne can consume you mentally. If you use up all of your mental real estate focusing on one thing you tend to miss the bigger picture. I can't begin to tell you how long it took me to realize that. I was always seeking the next best diet, supplements, etc and I lost track of what matters most, your mental health. Don't get me wrong, those things matter as well, but your mindset is what defines YOU, not your acne. You are unique, you are beautiful, and no matter what your struggles are find the positive in life. There are two kinds of people in this world: those that find the beauty and those that judge imperfections. Find the beauty in EVERYTHING, including yourself. I know you're probably thinking, "you don't know me and how much this affects me, that's easier said than done." TRUST ME, I get it. With that said, here are some reccomendations that helped me refocus my negative thoughts. I downloaded an app called Insight Timer and made myself meditate at least five minutes every morning. If you're thinking, "I don't have time for that." Well there's plenty of ways to make time such as on your way to work in your car, or at night before bed. I also went walking outside (preferably on trails) and tried to notice something new and beautiful everyday that I may not have paid attention to before. I ate healthy, but I stopped letting my diet consume me (obviously avoid foods you're allergic or intolerant to). I started a journal called "My book of positives" and everyday I write three positive things. If nothing comes to mind, well you're ALIVE and that's something to appreciate. Acne makes you feel MISERABLE, but I remind myself everyday that there are burn victims that CANT heal or people with cancer fighting for their life. Don't read any of this in a condescending manner, because I know we ALL strive for clear skin. My point is this is a moment in time, and all moments eventually come to an end. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Best of luck and positive vibes!

This reminds me of the law of attraction. Personally, I've never thought this way but some people live by this way of thinking.

Reading your post makes me believe that you are indeed stressing out. We can't really do much with a breakout like prevent it where it wants to pop but maybe changing your lifestyle as well would. Don't think too much about it, really.

I always say this but it's true, easier said than done but maybe you have a friend who's into healthy living or some sort who would give you tips as well and be your motivational coach into eating what's right, for example. It may be different for each person but definitely worth a try. Best of luck! :)
