Hey guys so I've always had fairly decent skin, never anything to write home about but it wasn't really terrible...I broke out with two big cystic bumps in 2014 , popped them and was left with horrible pih...so I went to derm and she prescribed me hydroquinone..well that was the start of a downward spiral..not knowing hydroquinone was a bleaching agent I used it and it broke me out so I would pick and scar and have to apply more hydroquinone ..that turned my face ghostly pale...after that I stopped using it noticed I was getting all sorts of little bumps...not knowing what they were I popped them and white string came out so after countless research I realized they were comedones ...this left the pih at an all time high and I started using the hydroquinone again (I was18 and really knew nothing about skin care thus the popping and and the use of hydroquinone) ..I stopped using it for good about 2 months ago and tho my skin color returned (a bit darker than it was before) my skin is dull and bumpy...I've been seeing an acne specialist but these comedones aren't like the past ones ...they are flatter and harder...she has me on a regimine similar to the acne.org regimine at night with the bp but I use mandelic acid in the morning...I noticed my face is smoother at night and bumpier during the day...idk but even she said this doesn't look normal and instructed I stop using the serum and the bp for 3 days and test them on my wrist just in case I'm having an allergic reaction...just cleanse, tone, and moisture with spf and hydrating gel for the next 3 days...my skin is a little itchy but idk If this is just irritation due to the bp and serum ...I also changed my diet to try and exclude gluten and dairy but that is another problem In and of itself because now I don't know what to eat or what exactly my body is reacting negatively to...I'm honestly too depressed to eat anyway ...I use to model and be really social but it's hard to want to face the world like this...my body has also been feeling itchy so idk if this s a sign of allergic reaction or yeast candida? I've been eating almond milk, greens, seeds, eggs, salmon, veggies, salsa, corn chips...idk y'all mad just so sad plus I've seen a few people with these types of bumps but have yet to see a cure and I don't wanna keep misdiagnosing myself...any help would be greatly appreciated
I have similar bumps like this on my jawline and cheeks and it is pityrosporum folliculitis. Caused by fungus overgrowth. Mine started on my chest and spread. A biopsy at the derm confirmed fungal. I too am depressed and stressed out bc I've been on 2 weeks if treatment oral fluconazole and selenium sulfide wash every other day with very little results. I'm going back to the derm on Friday and maybe I'll have some new info and hope!
Hey girl! I totally understand what you're going through. I am being 100% honest when I say I genuinely don't think it looks that bad. I know that is feels bad and it can seem like everyone is staring at you, but I'm being honest. There isn't a lot of discolouration with your skin which makes it a lot better
I absolutely get what you're going through! I know how skin issues can really lower your self-esteem, but try looking at the positive. You're doing one thing right, combating your acne internally. Diet is SO crucial to clearing acne and it is often underrated. I was in your same position, stressing over what I could and couldn't eat, constantly fearing something I ingest would break me out more, but that's no way to live. If you're truly worried you have allergies, then I would recommend getting tested for food allergies/intolerances. However, I would advise you eat a healthy well-rounded diet and lower your stress. I know everyone says "lower your stress, thats the culprit behind your issues" but we all like to think we have our emotions in check. Not eating, avoiding food, and stressing whenever you're hungry is only going to exacerbate your skin problems. It took me a VERY long time to accept this. I would advise you cut out ALL processed food, cut most carbs (other than quinoa, and gluten free carbs), eliminate sugar entirely, cut alcohol, caffeine, and dairy. Start eating A LOT of vegetables, lean meat (grass-fed chicken, turkey, & bison), limit your fruit intake (its best to consume it in the morning on an empty stomach once fruit digests quickly and you don't want fructose mixing with other foods. Also, make sure you're getting lots healthy fats (avocados are AMAZING for skin - maybe do half an avocado a day if you can). Upon morning drink a glass of warm water with half a squeezed lemon and 1 TBSP of ACV and take a probiotic (hyperbiotics Pro 15 is best for skin & gut). Also, taking cod liver oil helps many people, because it supplies us with the vitamin A our skin needs but often doesn't get through our diet. Lastly, I would suggest you look into pityrosporum folliculitis like the user above said. There's a website called: skincare science that will supply you with all the information you need and you can make that diagnosis yourself if it feels fitting. Good luck!!
