so, im 17 years old, i have suffered from acne since i was 12, severe acne and its everywhere, my arms, chest, back, face. and every person i have met found it appropriate it talk about it. my brother who i hate, makes fun of my skin on a daily basis, my tutor tells me to not eat chips, which i don't, my mom comments everytime she sees a change, my sisters tell me i should take accutane, which i did, and fucked up my liver. my uncles, cousins, everyone. i wish they would shut up about it, i know what is on my face, i have to look at on a daily basis u know. i swear everytime i look in a mirror i cry, when i talk to people i look down, when im walking i look down, its so depressing, in class my head is always down, i swear there is not a single person in my class who has bad skin, they are flawless, i feel like shit. ice pick scars started showing and my dear sisters have to tell me as usual, i have tried everything, aloe vera, home remedies, chemical creams, fucking accutane. it never goes. i have at least 5 new pimples everyday. my skin is also thick, which means scars stay for longer, i have some acne scars from 5 years ago. they are not going. i fucking hate acne. it makes me wanna die.
I hear you. Acne is fucked up. Especially the reactions of other people and their sometimes well intended advice.
The only advice i can give you, as someone who has had acne for 12 years, is to keep your head held high. You did not choose to live with acne. You are not your acne. Your unfortunate skin condition does not make you less than anyone else.
You shouldn't let other peoples opinions affect your well being. They only see or judge you on the fact that you have acne, a factor in your live which you did not choose. But there is so much more to you than just your acne. People that say harmful things to you because of your acne are toxic for your well being. Cut back on interacting with these people if you can and focus on self improvement.
Be proud of yourself on the things you DO have affect over in your life.Get that haircut, improve your posture, go to the gym, read that book on personal finance and do your absolute best in school!
As for acne. I managed to get rid of the acne on my face and neck thanks to the acne.org regimen. I would strongly urge you to give it a fair shot. I have gotten amazing results. If you follow the instructions closely i am positive that you will see great improvements as well!
Whatever treatment you choose next. I would recommend sticking with scientifically proven methods. This website has a decent selection of treatment options right here. Another good source of scientific information on acne is www.acneeinstein.com . The main supplement that is proven to be helpful is zinc picolinate.
Take care!
Yes...too much pressure over looks...but please keep in mind, it always looks worse to us than it does to everyone else!
Don't give up...don't use harsh stuff on your face and watch the frequency. A lot of these and treatments now actually hinder your body's ability to heal the scars quickly and completely (I tested this one on myself).
Don't shoot for "perfection" with your acne, afterall it is a natural part of your bodies defenses...however, too much (like what so many of us here are dealing with currently) is a sign that your skin/body is feeling threatened by something.
Most importantly...from here on out don't do anything for looks that will put your health at risk. It's just not worth it. Focus on being healthy first.
