My mom always yells at me about my acne! I'm a 13 year old girl and I know for a fact my acne is caused by puberty and oily skin. My mom talks about how gross my face looks. She doesn't let me use acne medication or skin products made for oily skin! What am I supposed to do?
Mom: "My god your face looks so red! Are you even washing it?"
Me: " Yes?!"
Mom: " Maybe if you were more hygienic you wouldn't have any acne!"
Me: " Mom, there's this thing called puberty that can cause ACNE. "
Mom: " I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HORMONAL ACNE AND BAD HYGIENE ACNE!!!!!"
Me " No you don't." *eye roll* {omg stfu mom}

I'm sorry she's being like this. Yes show her this website and articles on the causes of acne. Of course its hormones, that's why children never have acne before puberty and why some homeless people or people in countries with no running water have clear skin...because it's not about hygiene.
Have your mom stand right next to you when you wash your face so she knows you're not lying. It makes me angry that people are still this ignorant about acne! Its so rude to assume people with acne are dirty, in fact were often much more obsessed with cleanliness than normal skinned people..Good luck I hope your acne is very short lived for you.
Well I'll give you some truth right now (acne made me a bit more mature minded). The reason why your mom is feeling like that because she is in denial, in her mind she wants to be the best mother anyone can have (as with all) so she believes that it is out of yours and her control (Because denial is the easiest thing to do). She wants to make it your fault that you don't sleep or eat healthy but in reality it is far out of your direct control. Ignore her on acne, we all have our own biases once you think about it.
