I am an 18 year old boy. I have been struggling g with acne for years. It has just recently flared up so bad I am scared to leave house. I don't want to be seen by anyone. I haven't left the house in 19 days. I want to go see a dermatologist but my parents aren't willing to pay for it. My doctor already Prescribed doxycyclin. I've been on it for a month now with no results. My acne is cystic. It itches and burns. My cheeks and neck are scarred to hell from my acne. I need help
Thats really sad to hear jason. Talk to your parents and let them know how you're feeling, they'll be more inclined to send you to a dermatologist. As for the cystic acne and scarring, you'd really want to see a dermatologist as soon as possible to prevent further scarring. Accutane may even be an option but ill leave that to a dermatologist to answer.
Check with your insurance cause it's likely covered under your parents. Explain to them it's not just a phase it's a disease and neglecting it is akin to neglecting your health. Keep bothering them till they take you.
As a parent I'd want to do anything possible to help my child.
Meanwhile try to cut down on inflammatory stuff like dairy sugar and junk food. Dairy causes cysts in many of us on here. Good luck!
