I know it's impossible to get your skin absolutely bacteria free and sterile but I have a serious issue trying to deal with the idea of that and the idea of making my skin super clean . It doesn't matter what I do , my face just doesn't ever seem clean enough. I cleanse once a day (not twice because I suffer from bad facial eczema) . But the whole face washing process can take me upto 2 hours in one go. I use an oil cleanser. Then a foaming antibacterial wash along with a cleansing device (Foreo Luna) Then I'll oil cleanse again. Then I rinse about 50 times with warm tap water. Then I'll use 3 bottles of mineral water at the end to wash the tap water off , along with scrubbing with cotton pads.
Its driving me absolutely crazy and I'm sure I must sound and look like a crazy person.
Is anyone else the same ?! Would it be best if I saw a Dr for this if it is an uncommon issue ?
Wowza... that is quite intense!
Yes, in my opinion I think that is something to discuss with a doctor.
Do you feel like something bad will happen if you do not complete the whole routine? Like do you feel you would definitely break out or have an allergic reaction or something like that if you didn't do the whole thing? If you have feelings along those lines then you may want to consider if you might have OCD? Of course, it would be something for a doctor to diagnose.
And you are not crazy I think most of us here suffering with skin conditions can sometimes get a little, shall we say "overly concerned" about our skin care routines at some time or another. It could be you just need a little help to get yours to a more manageable amount.
It would be cool to follow your journey (if you felt comfortable posting about it of course).
Good luck!
Please understand that this isnt healthy and is almost definately causing your skin issues. Washing your face is very drying, and rinsing that much is, in my opinion, what's causing your eczema.. Youre irritating your skin needlessly and to an extreme amount.
you need to see a doctor in regards to this as it seems like a strong case of OCD. You want to be clean, but in washing your face so much are causing your skin to deteriorate
Sounds like a bit of OCD. (obviously we aren't doctors) but if something gets in the way of normal functioning like your obsession, it becomes something to see a doctor or therapist about Oh and no, you don't sound like a crazy person at all. You just sound like someone who really wants things touching your face to be clean. That totally makes sense.
