I'm pretty sure EVERYONEEEE feels this way, even people who have clear skin! I used to wallow in schmaltz for a few days during a breakout 'cause I would feel hideous and really discouraged since I'd always think my acne was getting better. But my best friend ALWAYS helped me through the tough times and because I talked to him so much about my acne issues that he knew everything about it and was able to drag me out of my hole. That and, I think over the years I've sort of learned that the real, good people on this Earth REALLY don't care about how people look. I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of people who like me for my personality and don't hold my appearance above that.
Nowadays I just don't even think about it - whenever that feeling of ugliness tries to surface I just ignore it. You just have to find something to distract you!
I struggle with this too, I don't remember the last time I felt attractive! However people around me remind me that I am and also acne is teaching me that it's what's inside that counts. Also are there things that you do find attractive about yourself? Like your hair, eyes or smile? Then treat yourself to a high end hair treatment or a nice new eyeshadow/lipstick
Also remember that people don't notice or care about your skin half as much as you do! Keep your head up, I know how hard it is but just don't give up xxx
Definitely struggle with this. Even now when my skin has cleared up quite a lot and I only have a few small breakouts compared to a face full, I still feel like this.
It helps me if I dress up a little - Doesn't have to be fancy or anything just as long as I like what I'm wearing for the day. It helps me feel more confident. I also try and make sure that I don't look in the mirror right before I leave the house or at least don't look in the mirror closely.
Also - smile! I know it can be hard to do when you're not feeling the best but do it anyway and the happy or confident feeling might just come along with it. If you can try and pick a different physical feature that you like then remind yourself of that - maybe you like your eyes, or nose or legs or whatever.
I think we just over think all this stuff...
Spending less time in the bathroom / infront of the mirror and spending more time doing things that make you happy or distract you from your skin is always a good idea too
Focus on what other physical attributes you like about yourself and make the most out of it! whether it's your hair, eyes, lips, legs, whatever, just like Lilly75 said! I like my hair, so I would play with it and try new hairstyles and it just makes me feel pretty again, even if my skin is shitty, at least I have some good features I can fall back on.
