You want to know what it feels like to be normal? What better way then to live amongst your own kind. few & far between we are vulnerable to the scrutiny of "normal" people, but together we would be able to exist in an environment that we'd love.

Lets pick out the land & build our community from scratch. I know for a fact that our town would be filled with nothing but good people. To be accepted you'd need to have at least some acne or scars, once in you'd be received with open arms & know that you'd always be welcomed here as one of us.

What a beautiful thought that is. For all of us to have a chance at a truly normal existence, that's all iv ever wanted since i first got my acne. I'm absolutely sure our society would be vastly superior to our counterparts for all the right reasons.

I could see it as a place of tolerance & respect for people. Where it's more then ok to be different. A place of kind, understanding folks. Yeah, if such a place existed right now I'd leave for it tomorrow... would you?

I can feel what you mean.. many of us have had bad experiences dealing with ignorant and rude people. Perhaps if it existed i would like to live there too.. i wouldn't be ashamed of getting out of home.. i want to buy some things for days but i don't want people to see me so i always postpone it. However when i read your post i instantly thought about that twilight zone episode "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" which i believe anyone in here should watch..

I would love to live in AcneVille, I'm so depressed and feel so alone and powerless! Lets move there together! ;)

As great as it is to feel accepted, I probably wouldn't leave for that place. I have friends and loved ones that have never experienced the acne I've gone through yet they have excepted me with open arms and don't see me for the acne that is on my face. Besides, growing up with acne has made me the person I am. I feel I am more compassionate to others in the same situation and also can give them advice on how to handle being around people who aren't.

Could I get a travel pass to go between the two worlds? :P There's good and bad to both - but I don't think this world is all that bad, there are still good people who are accepting and have respect for others. You can't avoid the 'weeds' - it's all a part of life. Choose to dwell on that or not. Up to you.

I wouldn't live in 'AcneVille.' As much as a place like that could be accepting, I also think it could turn into a bit of a sad place. I still feel everyone would be miserable and complaining about their skin and you'd maybe be even more pre-occupied with your skin than before. And what if someone's skin clears and their scars improve or go completely? Do you kick them out then?

To me these forums serve as 'AcneVille' anyway- a place where people can really understand and relate to what I have gone through or am going through with my skin and how it's effected me.

How is discrimination based on skin normal?

acne would be be the norm so why would be it be a big deal? If a person regained normal skin then they could help others do the same. We'd set up a clinic for nothing but acne & scars. Once cured a person would probably want to leave anyway, but they could still visit. I'm convinced life in acneville would be a good thing. Who whoudnt like being with their own kind? Especially after how normal people usually treat them. But to answer you question yes you would be allowed to visit & leave afterwards although i doubt you could, due to your helping nature.

I have a much better idea. Why not make a system that really punishes people who are bothering other people to a great extent? Now nothing gets done about that, but we can set up a system that does that so that the environment is fair to everyone.

well that would be one way of handling it, but also way too expensive lol. I'd rather just inforce good ideals like manners, that way the chances of it happening go way down & if it does it would rightfully be frowned upon by the community.

The opinion of others matter to people & is a good way to guide someone's behavior.

There is no such thing as "too expensive" ;)

If people back up something like TVP, then money will disappear anyway. In my mind people have to at least partially back up TVP due to all the economic problems that we have. They do not have a choice.
