From your personal experience. What do you guys think?
Why would you want to build character? What's in it for you? lol Seriously how do you define character? As not being superficial? As doing the right thing even though it's difficult? As being a decent person?
Looking for positives that come out of negatives is cool but "building character" is such a standard thing to say.
Well that's the old saying, it's think it's fairly true. but my only concern would be what kind of character that said person has grown into...
The way i see it acne generally builds two types of people, either you accept yourself and become humble like or on the other hand you fill yourself with resentment and hate. personally for me i fell i'm kind of in between the two for now...

answering a question with a question is such a standard thing to say

I like your perspective on this. Just like everything else that is bad in this world, the way you deal with it is what makes all the difference. I have seen lots of people on this site who are so angry and terrible and hate to see anyone happy. I've also seen people who are considerate, sympathetic and understanding. Acne can make you one of those types of people, and I'm so glad that I gravitate towards the latter.
So, yes, in a sense, it DOES build your character, but not necessarily GOOD character
No, I don't think it does. I view "character" as an intrinsic quality; thus, I think acne provides an opportunity to demonstrate character, not build it. For this reason, I have the utmost respect for people who, in the face of acne, continue to be positive and beneficial members of society.
