  1. I've heard all the great things about Head and Shoulders being great for acne but I cannot justify putting on those chemicals on my body! Does anyone know of natural/ organic substitutes that contain pyrithione zinc or other things that treat dandruff? I've read that Jason's dandruff shampoo helped someone's bacne but that's the only case that I have come across.
  2. Salutations, this is Xelb. I'm on a new acne regimen, and a friend recently gave me a tip about taking Vitamin A and Zinc supplements in order to help heal my skin. For somebody that his moderate to mild acne, would taking these supplements (along with continuing my regimen, found here: My other thread) help with clearing my acne just a little bit faster? My current regimen uses Retin-A, a known acne medication with certain concentrations of Vitamin A, which is mainly why I am asking if this w
  3. I have been looking for an alternative to topical treatments and after doing some research on the message boards have started off with 50mg zinc and 1000IU's of Vitamin D3. I took the first pills yesterday morning and found that last night I experienced really vivid dreams which I've never had before. I also feel asleep early this afternoon (I was very tired) and the same thing happened again, they were so vivid it felt so real and a bit disturbing. Has anyone else found this ? I am on anti-d
  4. Hey! I was wondering which order should I take these Vitamins in? Also will any of these taken together affect each other or will they affect my birth control (Yaz)? Fish Oil 1000mg x2 Vitamin A 10,000IU & D 800IU (one pill with both vitamins in it) Zinc 50mg Niacin 500mg The main part I'm worried about is these vitamins could be effecting my birth control. Thanks for any advice!
  5. Hey guys! So i've been reading REALLY great reviews about taking Zinc supplements to clear up skin, but it seems like some people see amazing results while others see none at all! Im wondering if the form of Zinc taken (gluconate, Opti-zinc (Zinc Monomethionine) or chelated Zinc) has anything to do with how effective it is?? If you've taken Zinc and it's worked for you, can you please share which form of Zinc you've taken?? I think this would maybe help clear up the mystery a litt
  6. Ok, so I have been reading this site for years and joined to see if anyone could give me some suggestions. So let me tell you a bit about my skin. I am in my 20s and have lived in a humid climate all of my life, so my skin used to be great and a touch oily. When I moved to Idaho, my skin went crazy! I all of a sudden had dozens of deep cysts embedded in my cheeks along my blush line and serious blackheads in my chin and lots of little bumps all over my forehead. It made me very self conscious.
  7. So, im just here to say that zinc cured my acne. Sometimes i still have some, but it never ''grows'' So seems that zinc stops inflammation, so for me i dont have that red spots anymore (i used to have a lot)... BUUUUUT my skin still extremelly oily I stopped to take for 2 weeks and i was having red spots again... I take 50mg in the morning and 50 at night... I think its a nice idea for everybody at least try it... As i said my skill still a mess because its like oil.. and i dont
  8. I bought a bottle of 50mg zinc pills and a bottle of pure honey, my theory is that since honey has helped me very much with the softness and giving my skin a sort of glow or healthier look maybe having zinc fight my acne internally and wearing a honey mask would give good results. I have tried dan's regimen and it did help but I ran out before I was clear and it is pretty costly to stay on that regimen for me so I decided to just wash my face twice as day and such. Today I decided to do some res
  9. I want to try more "natural" (since it's not like it's from the wild ahha) techniques. Would it be possible to dissolve a Vitamin C + Zinc tablet into water and put that on my face? Would this help my acne and fade my red marks? Thanks!
  10. So my original post was this http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Desperate....html&st=20 if you'd like a bit more history. Here's what has been happening recently; Diet/Supplements -Vegan, trying to stick to a high(er) protein, and balanced diet than I was eating before, as well as keep everything as natural and unprocessed as possible. Such as eating fruits and veggies I've grown myself. I've been trying to keep gluten to a minimum, (rarely have it anymore, maybe bread once every 2 weeks t
  11. list all oral supplements that are supposed to improve your skin, like zinc, fish oil, acv, b5, acidophilus (not drugs like accutane). i'm going to start taking all of them ray kurzweil style to see if it does anything.
  12. Hi, Ghost here. I've been stalking these boards for a while now reading everyone's logs and have decided to do my own. Let me tell you a little about myself; I'm 18 years old, now while I've suffered from the occasional zit or pimple since I was 12, I have never had more than one at a time. Then VOILA! a couple of months ago I started breaking out pretty badly. ((No, I haven't changed my diet, or any other part of my lifestyle)) The only thing I can figure is that it is from stress
  13. Hi Everyone, My daughter started puberty quite young (10) and that is when the pimples began. After about a year of constant worsening I found this website and bought a tube of BP. Once a day for about six months and then upped it to twice a day and that is when we really started to notice a difference, the amount of pimples halved, putting her into the mild-moderate catagory. The only problem is, it never got any better than that, except when we tried Erythromycin pads + Fucidin cream for 10 d
  14. The Short Version: Chromium is an essential trace mineral, and a deficiency can result in blood sugar problems and subsequently, acne. There are two major ways in which our body can become chromium deficient: -Excess Refined Carbohydrates/Sugars -Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance/Excess Refined Carbohydrates => Chromium Deficiency => Hyperglycaemia => Impaired Glucose Metabolism => Raised Blood Sugar Levels => Excess Insulin => Increased
  15. Just used this stuff in the shower about an hour ago. My face felt great when I dried off. It came with a moisturizer, but even though I hate the feeling of moisturizers, I still used it. It's only been like an hour or so, but I've noticed that this thing either already got rid of my lingering red blobs that connected my main red marks, or made my main red marks brighter..? Has anyone else experienced something like this? Also, tonight was the first time I've ever taken a 50mg chelated zinc pi
  16. Hi everyone! Since I am new to this board I have also added my full skin care routine to the end of this post. And would appreciate any body which has had any experience with combining Azelaic acid (Skinoren, Finacea, Azelex) with Retin-A. Here is my story; I have been to dermatologist before and they have prescribed me loads of things for my terrible acne and with a lot of experience I now self prescribe because I am able to get prescription topical medications OTC in my country for almost o
  17. How bad is my acne? Most of what's in that picture is just red marks of a bad breakout (worst in a while) I had about a week ago. I've had it since I was like 15, I just turned 20. I've basically used Dan's regimen since I first had it, but haven't used his products. I've tried Proactive, Acne Free, Salicylic acid, I've also tried doing nothing at all, thought I was the cause, and I still broke out just the same as if I did something. Also tried Differin. Never been to a derm, although I'm cont
  18. I'm a 26 years old male, I have been suffering of bacne for 6 years, also I have acne on my chest and some on my arms, I have tried several antibiotics and several treatments, like isotretinoin aka accutane (I couldn't stand the side effects), antibiotics (Clindamycin, Erythromycin, tetracyclines), Benzoyl peroxide, topical retinoids, salicylic acid, azelaic acid. Well the only thing that actually works for me is bactrim, I used it for a year and when I stopped the acne just came back. However I
  19. Does anyone know what the elemental zinc value of Nature Made 30mg Zinc is? The ingredients just list zinc gluconate as the first ingredient, but do not list the elemental zinc value. --- update --- I received this email from Nature Made (Pharmavite, LLC): We recently received your e-mail regarding Nature Made Zinc 30 mg (Gluconate). We appreciate your question concerning our supplements. One tablet of Nature Made Zinc 30 mg contains 220 mg of Zinc Gluconate. We hope you find this informat
  20. Note the way the title says 'improving' and not 'curing'. I'm not going to claim to have a cure for acne because I still have and get pimples, however I've found a way to significantly improve my skin and thought I would share the regimen with you. The regimen is VERY strict and I warn you, difficult to follow, but with perseverance and determination it IS possible. So what's the secret? Here is my regimen in steps. 1. Sleep! Get at least 8 hours of sleep a day, ideally be in bed before 12pm
  22. I just bought Finest Natural Zinc and Niacin(no flush) and GNC's Pantothenic Acid I was planning on taking 50 mg of zinc twice a day(wakeup, bedtime) 500 mg of Niacin once a day at night before bed and 500 mg of Pantothenic Acid 4 times a day(2 morning, 2 night) How does this sound, please let me know if I should change anything.
  23. After posting my blog post (which I will paste in below), I realized that I have no interest in blogging, LOL, and pretty much deserted it. I think I'd have better accountability at not picking and being good to my skin if it's daily/weekly/whatever thoughts quickly jotted down than via a blog post. So, here goes. This was my first post from Feb 3rd: I'm so not a blogger, but I wanted to keep track of what works/doesn't work in my fight to beat adult acne. I'm a 35yo female who has had acne of
  24. Right after reading countless post on here about huge changes in diet and lifestyle changes ive now reached breaking point, signed up and bit the bullet! 1) I understand every bodies skin is different and it effects people in soo many different ways! 2)Dont read too much into the internet...its a breading ground for bad advice! but however reading "the right" internet advice has help my skin. You should know your skin and if not consult a professional. 3) Most post's are what has worked for
  25. Hello guys, I'm new here. I'm a female Asian. About 5'2 tall, 95 pounds. I've suffered from acne ever since I was 12, I am now 20. My acne just got worse and worse throughout the years. I think I have moderate now. I'm not sure, I could just be too paranoid. Anyways, my T-zone was pretty clear. Usually its the cheeks and chin. I started having breakouts under my chin and on the jawline area about a year ago. I developed cystic acne as well. I've become so desperate, like most of acne sufferer
